We’re going to build a wall of ice hockey boards on the USA’s northern border and make Canada pay for it!

Gad, didn’t Canada learn that they are supposed to rake their forests, like Finland?

What is wrong with those hosers, anyway?

The US media seem to be all concerned about the smoke that’s blowing down our way, but I don’t any — right, left, or “balanced” expressing concern about the Canadians living near the forest fires, who must be experiencing much worse… and much more dangerous, even if they’re not threatened by the actual flames.

Wood smoke drifts south from Canada.

Gun smoke drifts north from the USA.

It’s the anthropogenic climate change – “global warming,” for short – that you deny.

If it wasn’t so tragic, I’d be amused by the deniers of climate change. They focus on the individual event rather than looking at the equivalent events such as this on a global scale and never connect the dots. A snarky comment about a particular prediction that was wrong, private jets or Democrats coming for your gasoline is their only response to events that have been predicted for 40+ years. A true, contemporary tragedy.

AQI in NYC as of 11:00 AM EDT Today: 151 Very Unhealthy

Health effects will be immediately felt by sensitive groups and should avoid outdoor activity. Healthy individuals are likely to experience difficulty breathing and throat irritation; consider staying indoors and rescheduling outdoor activities.

It gets worse in the afternoons.

During the California wildfires of 2021 prevailing winds blew smoke and ash into the SF Bay Area and for several days the AQI in Santa Clara County got down to over 400. Health alerts were issued and people were asked to stay inside as much as possible and to wear masks for the air and not just COVID.

We have had smoke and ash over the Island during the last several fire seasons, but the winds have generally cleared things up in a short time. At night you could see the fires glowing on the mainland.

Very bad on the East Coast the past few days although today is much better. When I lived in western Washington, B.C. wildfire blanketed the West Coast in smoke each summer. I’m assuming CA wildfires produce massive amounts of smoke in the the state and surrounding ones depending on the winds.

…because too many trees were left standing around with no programmed controlled burns or other protocols, because too many tree huggers held hands and surrounded the trees in a righteous defensive posture. Enjoy your crisp, clean air, Canadians. We certainly are.
