As black bears are moving south into our suburban neighborhood just north of St Paul, MN, our neighbors are getting rid of their bird feeders that the bears like to visit. We’re very used to roadside dead deer, but last week I saw two separate dead bears on the side of Interstate 94.
I just added a third seed feeder. It’s under the gazebo, so when the rains return there will be one that will be dry. Which reminds me, I have to clean and refill the hummingbird feeders.

All I can say is the Days must get prettier birds than our feeder sees.

These are American Goldfinches, males. The females are less bright yellow and the dark spot on their heads is more grey than black.
