If McConnell had had the courage to vote to convict Trump in the second impeachment trial, at least 9 more Republican senators would have joined him in the vote. Convicted, Trump then would have been ineligible to run for president again and we could simply ignore him. But, no. Cowards.
More and more people are stepping back a half step and thinking about alternatives. I doubt the Rethugs will actually choose someone else… and I’m kinda okay with that because it should make Biden a shoo-in. Of course, I wish Biden had opted out and let the Democrats make some other kind of mistake.
There’s no stopping stupid old white men. Who get welfare checks from the government they claim they don’t trust. Who are so offensive they are an embarrassment and a danger to the USA.
Join the party of “Family Values” GQP Chicken Cult where the hypocritical behavior and actions plus the vitriol make it clear that the Teachings of the Christ take a far far lower priority than their “training manuals” – Mein Kampf and 1984 and Animal Farm and The Handmaid’s Tale
As MAGA followers have stated since the CNN MAGA-fest, the liberals set Trump up to tell lies on TV and further incriminate himself. All the fault of the liberals.
The Republicans have never been the party of conservative values. That’s just the hype they use to keep their base in line. For at least the past two generations, Republicans have depended on the Religious Right types, who make up a huge part of their base, to support them, and they have been very dependable, despite the fact that very few of them have enough money that they were not working against their own best interests. For them, it didn’t have anything to do with economics or social welfare, because they were brainwashed into believing that the Republicans believed in the Family Values agenda. It is amazing to see how many of these people who are, in their own minds at least, a moral shining light actually are able to overlook the fact that they are avidly supporting a person who is dishonest in his business dealings and has the Family Values credentials of an extremely active tomcat.
He tells a Story. A Story some of us like to hear. A Story that has been crafted to the taste of those who enjoy hearing it. The Story doesn’t need to be true. It doesn’t need to accomplish much, beyond securing the service and loyalty of those who find it satisfying. It’s entertainment, really.
With the Story, he obtains the confidence of the faithful. With their confidence and support he gets what he wants, power and their money. From time to time, a few scraps will fall from the table. But he will pocket the rest. His roll call of former associates cast aside shows what happens when they are no longer useful to his ends. He cares the same for his MAGA faithful.
His entertainment will continue as long as it meets his needs. He’ll tell you the Story is for you, but it is solely for his aggrandizement.
To those who enjoy bluster, bravado or political incorrectness, watch a movie like “Tango and Cash”. I liked it when it came out in 1989. It’s fun to watch. But, it’s a Story. It’s entertainment, not governance. Please don’t require your nation to endure his Story a second time.
Questions I would’ve asked had I been the moderator at the town hall:
Did you keep in contact with the kid your father paid to take your SATs for you?
Which did you commit first, your first financial crime or your first rape?
When the mob of traitors you incited to storm the Capitol attempted to murder Mike Pence, who else would you have liked to see killed? If one had happened to be Eric, would you have cared over-much?
What really has my head spinning is the people (and they are numerous) who declare with a straight face that Trump, like Tucker Carlson, “always tells the truth”, and “I’ve never heard him tell a lie”, and so on. Really? Seriously? As for Carlson, his M.O. was to “ask questions”, which were really statements, but the great thing about a "question"—real or spurious—is that questions have no truth value, so “fact-checking” is irrelevant.
Twice-impeached, yes. And framed as a “Russian asset.” And also lied about ceaselessly during his 4 years in office. And then hounded by a partisan NYC DA. And target of armed feds rummaging through his Florida home. Got that? Yeah, needs a bigger t-shirt for a more complete picture of political reality.

There are two Americas:
1: The America of ideals and dreams; the America of the human spirit. It stands for hope.
2: The America of Racism, Hatred and Greed; the Anti-America. It stands for irrational fear.
The biggest problem is the lack of communication and dialog between the two.
Needed are:
- a disruption of leaders of fear
- to help more people understand and live the dream
