Calvin’s confirming authority may very well be unconfirmed.

I’m reminded of the “famous” Tapiés sculpture of a dirty sock with a hole in the toe. 18 metres (60 ft) high, made of papier mache, wire and other stuff. Someone paid him an enormous amount for it and now it’s art.

We have to wait until tomorrow to see if Calvin’s overblown ego is punctured.

At least, that’s what Calvinist said on Monday.

I am currently reading a factual book called Cider Country in which Hobbes’s historical namesake Thomas Hobbes is mentioned. Lord Scudamore was a brewer of cider and maker of glass bottles in the seventeenth century who helped to develop glass bottles for cider whereas cider had previously only been in casks. He met Thomas Hobbes while staying in Paris.

I really hate that I can’t be recognized as being real without two forms of picture ID.

You will be grayed before someone realizes how great you are…

The trouble with winning is that once you do it you’re expected to be able to do it again. If you do you’re a glory hog and if you don’t you’re a loser. Still, best to strive for excellence in whatever you do. Even if you’re a loser.

I guess that’s why they have award shows. Only the judges are smart enough to know who’s great.

IDK. most “influencers” today think they are great if they get a few thousand “likes”.

Prestige? Possible, though doubtful. And to buy it takes much more moolah than you’ll have, Calvin.

Nobel Peace Prize?

Most awards tend to benefit someone besides the winner.

I always thought “art” awards were strange. Their only value seems to be to allow gallery owners to decide how much per pound to charge for the artwork. :)

People also think that anything an authority or group of authorities pronounce must be true.

Another good example: the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. To me, there are some questionable nominations. Why are artists who are of the rap/hip-hop genre being inducted into a Rock & Roll hall of fame? If that genre wants a hall of fame, then create one.

The voice of reason goes in one ear and out the other.

Calvin’s already counting his chickens before they hatch. Not a good sign…

More often than not the authority gets it wrong, unfortunately.

Around 100 daily comments and likings make this six year old and his elusive stuffed tiger famous enough. No statuary authority need to endorse this fact.

Oddly, cats don’t care at all whether or not their greatness has been certified by an authority. They know it’s superlative.

I don’t think anyone ever will Calvin.

Even if he won, Calvin would be disappointed by how much $5 WON’T buy.

Just a reminder that mediocre people think they’re the best. You know what pride comes before.
