That’s why “correct” is always better than “right”.

Not only that, but your tires are cambered and are going to wear out sooner than you expected.

    “Back up!”

    “I’ll back up.”

    “OK. Go ahead.”

    “Make up your mind!”

My friend was leaving my house one day and I said, “Go ahead — back up”. He said. Do you want me to go ahead or back up?"Who’s on first?

I was giving directions to a good friend that was driving and there was another guy in the back seat. We pulled up to a stop sign and I said turn left. My friend turned right. The poor, confused guy in the back said, “But he said…” and we both said, “It’s alright.”

We and our guests ate half of the pie for dessert. Next day, I asked, “There’s a whole half left, right?

I had a hernia operation on my right side once. The nurses and doctors kept asking me, “which side is it” and I kept saying, “The right one… not the wrong one.” I don’t think they thought I was funny.

No! No! The OTHER Right! That’s how we navigate. We often miss our turn too.

My father once told me that if you confuse a New York City cabbie that way, they’ll stop and tell you to get out of the cab!

I’m dyslexic and have always gotten my left and right confused. I blame my first grade teacher who beat my little knuckles with a ruler and forced me to write right-handed. I can write with either hand now, both forwards and backwards but to me when someone says “right” my brain tells me to go to my dominant side, which is my left side. When driving, I tell people if they are giving me directions to stick their hand in the window and point so I can see it. Chances are if you tell me right or left, I will go the wrong way!

We’re missing the next day’s strip. Is that because he missed his turn?

This goes back at least to the Lucille Ball – Desi Arnaz movie “The Long, Long Trailer.”
