Who gave stanford permission to mess with the English languarge? It is not our language to change; it was around WAY before there was a United States or Stanford University. what part of this is “education.”?

One should note that Stanford did not ban any words. Rather, it made suggestions on usage. Per their website: “We have particularly heard concerns about the guide’s treatment of the term “American.” We understand and appreciate those concerns. To be very clear, not only is the use of the term “American” not banned at Stanford, it is absolutely welcomed. The intent of this particular entry on the EHLI website was to provide perspective on how the term may be imprecise in some specific uses, and to show that in some cases the alternate term “US citizen” may be more precise and appropriate. But, we clearly missed the mark in this presentation.”

I find it ironic that right-wingers scream about free speech but are the first (and primary) book banners. Right winger Elin Musk whined about free speech till he got control of Twitter, then he started banning people whose words he did not like.

Context is all and Mr. Kelly has no appreciation of it. From NewsWeek:

    https://www.newsweek.com/stanford-criticism-slammed-putting-american-forbidden-word-language-list-1768543

“She noted that the context of the interpretation is important, as it was not supposedly issued for broad interpretation but rather a set of internal recommendations for the school’s IT department. As far as she could tell, there’s no mechanism for enforcement of these standards, and so they function more like suggestions.”

And add to this politically driven re-education, a report recommends that the Marine Corps no longer use Sir or Ma’am in recruit training when addressing our Drill Instructors.

The poor precious little darlings might get an extra tongue lashing from the DI.

Oh to hear what Chesty and R. Lee Ermey would have to say about this.

Liberal with two doctorates here. That list is absurd. It’s so bad, I have to wonder if it is a hoax, and then wonder if I’m just wishing too hard. It’s not as bad as “defund the police,” but it’s pretty close.

Do we have to take our shoe off before shooting ourselves in the foot?

A demonstration of “critical thought” taught in public schools these days. So many “Americans” these days, who have a public education/indoctrination are so anxious to surrender their freedoms. It is like they have never read history and they believe everything the media tells them.

Well I did a little research and found out that it was Stanford’s IT Dept that created the list for department use. Stanford, apparently, does not sanction the list. Nonetheless, it was their INFORMATION Technology Department that created this??!? i wouldn’t trust them to make a Swiss cheese sandwich after this piece of mental garbage.
