I left Comic Books when they became PC and NOW they seem to be going WOKE. The Comic Book collectors stores though seem to be doing good business sales in old comics.

My pull list has gone down dramatically these past few years. And I’m planning even deeper cuts to the point of getting rid of many of my back issues.

Cant think of the last time I bought a comic book. I think about the time I started writing for them. Too many messages and angst. Batman. Iron Man

Leave an important meeting for a comic book? You’d only do it once, then you could be in line always.

The shop where I used to buy mine came up with a great way to Eliminate the “Standing In Line” problem.

The installed “Mailboxes” for customers who wanted to put in a “Standing Order” for particular titles. Or even “One Time” special editions.

When the comics arrived, the clerks would put the pre-ordered comics into the “mailboxes” and then put anything left on the “First Come, First Serve” rack.

You could then swing by the store at your convenience and pay for whatever was in your mailbox.

The Store’s owner said it increased sales in two ways: A) He no longer had to Guess how many copies to order. B) People who stopped in to pick up their mailbox also walked around the store in a Happy mood and bought a lot more Impulse items than someone disappointed because the item he wanted was Sold Out before he got there.

When I was a kid, I only got to read comic books when I went to the barber shop. Years later, when I finally had a decent steady income, I finally got a subscription — but then they started killing off characters and getting all gloomy and angsty and mixing up heroes and villains and having villainous heroes and … well, comics just aren’t fun anymore. I’ve heard they’ve gotten even worse since.

Semi related to comics – While walking in Walmart two weeks ago (looking to buy new towels) we spotted the DVD of “Clerks III” the latest followup to the characters of the original “Clerks” – bought it without question. It was our “Saturday night date substitute movie” for that Saturday night – we had not even known same had been made. It was a good followup of the now grownup characters to the story lines of the earlier related movies.

So for our "Friday night midnight movies’ this past Friday we watched “Clerks” again. I am guessing husband will be running through the entire series of movies for the coming Friday nights.

(I relate these movies to comics as Kevin Smith owns a very nice comic book/movie-TV toys shop in the same town as the movies take place/are filmed. )
