ha, maybe I should start doing that to the family… well, my siblings. I’m sure mom wouldn’t like her hair being wet.

I did something similar with my guy this morning. He did something nice and I told him he was a good boy. He laughed.

I usually do the dishes since the hot water feels good on my arthritis. We have a dish washer, but usually use that when we have guests. The problem with dishwashers is that not everything fits into them or is safe to put in them. So you end up using both, which to me is stupid.

i usually do the dishes and hate it when someone puts a dish into the sink instead taking a few extra seconds to put it in the dishwasher. Especially when they’ve just watched me fill it.

Do you know how many rolled up newspapers had to die to get him to that point?

Her expression conveys that she’s being sarcastic about his expecting to be appreciated for bringing her another glass to wash—she’s the one that deserves the compliments.

I have some gold star stickers to offer my family members (all adults) when they do something good like this. It is mostly sarcastic, but they do get a gold star.

If husband carries dishes. etc to sink it means he is rushing me as it is late and he needs to go to sleep.

Our second dishwasher died about 15- 20 years ago. (First died much earlier of course.) I went looking for a new one. I grew in a house where there was a dishwasher, but it was rarely used – mom preferred hand washing. He grew up in a house where his mom used the dishwasher – always. We did not have one in our apartment so he was excite when we got the house and it had a dishwasher, so I used it – and did not like using it much due to the amount of rewashing I ended up doing – it did not even get the newsprint off our dishes when I unpacked them when we moved in. It died. We bought the second one at his insistence. Used as he wanted me to. Then that one died.

We went out looking for a new one. I use pottery dishes and most of the dishwashers we saw did not have thick enough spaces between the posts which go between the dishes to fit them in. I finally found one I sort of liked – it was on the higher end of price. We were mulling it over and I hears about the various problems with the newer dishwashers and how much maintenance they have – needing to clean out the filter, not cleaning the dishes, etc. Before the pandemic we ate lunch out daily and dinner out 3 days 3 days a week – and we have late snack instead of breakfast – so how many dishes was I washing anyway and we held off buying it.

It takes me, unless something like Christmas or Passover – and even then there is only the 2 of us – maybe 10-15 minutes a meal or less to wash everything and put it in the rack to air dry. Husband, among other items, weaves kitchen towels and I have one he gave me to try out and make sure it works – I use it as a spare rack for drying as it works well, but is a bit thick for my taste in dish towels.
