That is the direction that the ever smaller proportion of the US that’s in charge is headed. But I keep thinking that it would only take about 8 years of everyone voting for their OWN best interest to turn the nation around. Not enough to reverse course, but at least enough to stop ACCELERATING in the wrong direction.
If she is talking environmental disaster, then she can talk someday, but not for long. If she is talking a move to the ’burbs or rural surroundings, she needs to do that soon. If she is talking destruction of personal rights, someday just became yesterday.
Republicans better get their voter suppression laws up and running quickly. If they don’t, yesterday’s SCOTUS decision will trigger a blue wave the likes of which this country has never seen.
I must give credit where credit is due. I had previously believed that jurists elevated to the highest court in the land, once there, could put party affiliations aside and make decisions based on law and precedent, as they have done for over two centuries. But yesterday’s decision, coupled with Thursday’s overturn of New York’s concealed weapons law, has shown me the error of my ways. Both decisions put aside “law and precedent,” instead relying on their versions of “history and tradition.” I especially thank Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, key votes in both decisions, for showing me that deliberate lying to Congress and to the American People is how we will Make America Great Again – just as soon as we can bring all those undesirable, disruptive elements of our society (i.e. women, gays, persons of color, immigrants, dissenters, the press, and a few others) under control, or failing control, eliminating them entirely. Now I understand, fully and completely, that conservatism, once the bastion of less government and law and order, has become just another word for Fascist Tyranny. Thank you. I have been enlightened. /S
63% of Americans wanted to keep Roe v. Wade in some form or another. Five Republican judges looked at the Constitution and said, “That part about We the People, doesn’t apply to you.”
Now that the Supreme Court has ruled that it is legal for the Christian Right to force their religious beliefs on the rest of us, the United States joins Iran as a theocracy.
As such, I demand religious freedom for all faiths including non-Christian religions such as Buddhism. Buddhists are the ultimate pro-Life people to the point of being vegan. To accommodate their faith, I demand that meat be abolished in restaurants and grocery stores and that the slaughter of animals for food or clothing cease immediately.
I’m genuinely fascinated by a mindset that crusades for legal protection for unborn children from conception to birth, while simultaneously managing to uphold gun laws linked directly to the murders of young children in schools.
I lived in that world. Luckily my dad didn’t believe in racism, bigotry, and misogyny of the times. He was the most nonjudgmental human being I ever knew. And my mom was a smart, career-centered woman. Once I was out of my family home and into the “world”, I realized how men used laws and norms of patriarchy and hierarchy to keep women and other groups under their thumbs. These conservatives will be sorely disappointed when they discover once people have rights, they won’t quietly bend over and lose them.
I think it may be time to call on President Biden to nominate four (4) new Supreme Court justices. Stacking the court? Sure. So what? There are already two justices on the court who should not be there because Republicans changed the rules to suit their needs. Why should Biden not do the same? And we know that the majority of Americans want abortion to be legal and safe. We also know that the majority of Americans want responsible gun regulation. (remember, even in the Wild West they had more gun regulation than this court is allowing). Why should this already stacked court get to change the rules we’ve lived by for so long? And I don’t believe for a second that Republicans wouldn’t appoint more justices than we currently have if it suited their purposes.

The current trend is like global warming. I am very concerned about what is going to be handed to my great grand children.

Sadly, very much the truth unless we can vote every Republican (conservative) out of office indefinitely.

The Supreme Court used to honor precedent. The key word here is HONOR. This court has none.
History will judge this court with the same light as the Dred Scott decision in 1857.

How to Make America Great Again
Step 1: Make sure women are barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen – Accomplished.
Step 2: Put gays back in the closet – Next to do
Step 3: Put Coloreds in the back of the bus – the GOP is working on this.
No slash “S.” This is what the Republican plan is.

Women don’t have equality now. Maybe they never did. Woman don’t have say over their bodies. Men do. That’s inequality. No getting around it.

Keep voting republican and make sure she’ll be powerless and have nothing. Conservative misogyny rules along with white supremacy.
