Jaws-of-Death, my 90+ pound gentle-as-a-lamb pittie, isn’t quite that smart. But if I’m walking him by myself or with the grandkids, he’s always on red alert.
When our daughters were born the Mrs. told me we were getting dogs. “Big dogs they can grow up with.” Well, we did. And the doggos quickly became guardians of the pack and best friends of the girls. Those doggos have since crossed over The Rainbow Bridge and we have others. Still guardians of the pack, friends of the girls and slaves to the cats. Whenever the girls would take them for walkies, they were never bothered by strangers. Speak softly and carry a Beagle, Labrador, German Shepherd, English Sheepdog, Pinscher or Rottie.
Great Danes are know for being big goofs, but mess with one of the pack and they will hurt you. We get all our Danes from rescues and they have all had horrible lives before coming to us. Some had health issues and some were just mistreated. We put them on the best food at strict times (so they knew food was always coming) and gave treats for no reason. We always made sure to give love and cuddles and to say good boys at least 10x a day. The love was returned exponentially and still is. Each has had a time to show aggression when they thought someone was hurting a family member. When they were wrong a simple it’s OK boys from me was sufficient because I was calm. They are called Great Danes because they are the greatest.
This is a great strip today to both warn children who might read it, as well as to remind parents and others to tell children NEVER EVER to get into a car with a stranger, no matter what “reason” that person is giving – my dog is lost, your mom’s been hurt and I’ll take you to her in the hospital, etc., etc. These creeps have endless ways to try to get to kids. I commend Brad for bringing the problem to everyone’s attention. And also, Bravo to Tom, who saved the Captain!

I believe that in certain parts of the USA “he needed killing” is an acceptable defence.

I hope Marmaduke tears him a new one. A great comic today showing the dangers to children in a form they can relate to.

More like a second leash on life…

Unfortunately, that is happening daily all over our land. Permanently lock them up together along with those wanting them to do it.

With the increase in child trafficking today this isn’t even remotely funny. Do over, Brad. This was in poor taste.
