This is an example of “ordinal linguistic personification”, combined with a more conventional colour-based form of synesthesia.

Numbers are the worst when they become flabby and over inflated!

You should pick up the " ‘Elementary’ Number theory" book to learn about these things, Alice!

Oh, I understand this completely! I didn’t like 9 either, because no matter what number you gave it, it kept one. You know, 9+N=N-1.

I would think Petie would be good at math. It’s all order and logic. A perfect escape from people and personalities.

I agree with Alice. Numbers are colors, Days of the week are colors, some shapes are colors. That is how my brain works. A square is red, but a rectangle is yellow.

Alice actually has a point, for once. Genius’s are really good at asking questions, though I think the right questions maybe just as important.

I was at the pet store the other day, and there was a little four year old girl in there with her parents. She was cute as a button, and firing off questions rapid fire, as fast as her parents could answer them. What is this? What is that? Why is that? Etc, etc, etc…. Oh boy, the exasperated look on her parents face! Not unlike Petey’s look, here.

That’s not math. It’s Alice in Way Worse than Wonderland.

Alice is clearly not ready for Higher Math; and by Higher Math I mean anything above the number 1, which is her favorite number….
