I went to cfc’s when they first came out, they seem to last a long time. Everything else is now leds, and they will last way past any period of inflation. L havent had to buy light bulbs in years.

Ah-ha, I knew it. Rampant inflation is all due to those new Liberal light bulbs. Get rid of them and America will be great again.

But those “cheap” lightbulbs use up far more energy than LEDs.

Unlike Ramirez, those of us who have a higher than a 9th grade level education have learned and understand those incandescent bulbs use 3-4 times the energy to operate. Ramirez obviously got a healthy check from his local power company for this toon.

What a bright idea….worry about the dimwits who thought of it in the first place…

Baltimore Gas and Electric sent somebody to the house to replace all of our light bulbs for free. Haven’t bought bulbs since, and that’s been eons.

Because they are not the cheapest lightbulbs invented.

Well done. This demonstrates ignorance of math, science, and economics. Given their understanding of the world, I am surprised conservatives don’t still sacrifice animals to ensure a good harvest. Or practice trepanning to get evil spirits out of people.

The incandescent bulb isn’t necessarily the cheapest. With LED bulbs being sold at Dollar Tree stores and at greatly reduced rates from your power company, the incandescent is both ineffecient and often too costly.

In the meantime the criminal republican party is in a conspiracy to destroy democracy in the USA.

It is sort of amusing to see Trump Disciples like Ramirez frothing about banning old, inefficient, energy wasting technology. Because it’s, you know, yet another example of Government Overreach.

And it’s an OUTRAGE!!!!!!!

If it weren’t for [government] standardization/regulation, there would BE no standard light bulbs, incandescent or LED. Every lamp manufacturer would market their own light bulbs that would the only ones that would fit their lamps. And wiring? You’d better hope there would be building codes that would standardize wall plugs.

And, yes, switches.

When our great grand children are starving to death because increased droughts destroyed agriculture. When our great grand children are in rags picking through the rubble of flooded cities looking for things to salvage. When the microplastics flowing through their blood stream causes heart attacks. When the cancer levels increase….

When all those things happen and our great grand children struggle to survive, they will most certainly say “well at least great great grand-pa Ramirez was able to get an affordable lightbulb. That makes this all worth while”

They are by far the most expensive to own. Seems like you just needed something to whine about.

Just did a price check & basic 60 watt LED bulbs are about the same price as incandescent bulbs- $2 a bulb. The market said incandescent bulbs are bad a while ago.

Leaded gas was a cheap way for crummy American-made engines to run smoother. We still banned it.

I got an idea, solid state batteries, portable nuclear FUSION, asteroid mining…………..

Alternative energy expansion has only covered recent growth, fossil fuel use hasn’t been cut back at all, it keeps increasing every year…………………..until it collapses.

Let’s IN FACT ban the most expensive light bulbs… counting ALL the costs and not just the price of one bulb at the checkout counter.

We got a box of LED lightbulbs free from the power company.

This is insanity. I’ve replaced the majority of my lights with LEDs. Yet, there are a few instances where incandescents and the heat they produce are useful. There’s no need for government mandates here. It’s just government overreach.

Talk about a dim bulb! Ramirez thinks like a poor person, fated to always remain poor: “how much does this cost me right now?” The cost of an LED bulb over its average lifetime of 20 years is about $34. Over the same period, the cost of incandescent bulbs (that’s plural, of course, because they don’t last very long) is about $211. And, of course, that calculation doesn’t include the time and costs of getting so many replacement incandescent bulbs. Ramirez is the dim bulb!
