It’s not sarcasm that Odie can’t pick up, Garf, but your facial expression. Odie probably knows Garf well enough to know when his face in genuine. About he only time Garf shows a genuine face is when pizza, lasagna, or pasties are around. Odie’s faces are almost always genuine and happy, except when he snarls.
I can be sarcastic when I want to, yet my dad is always making jokes that I take umbrage with, mainly because he doesn’t understand that I don’t understand his teasing.
Makes sense, Odie does do this, but I do remember a strip from like 1983 where odie locks himself in a car, just as it rains. Garfield, Odie isn’t as stupid, but still stupid.
