As soon as I exit my car I grab the first cart I see – not knowing what awaits lurking inside… Yes, sadly episodes like this happens way too frequently. I once told the complainer the store was hiring new employees and perhaps they should apply to straighten out the mess.
I always look for one in the parking lot first. Not disabled, I can wheel a cart in. Another peeve is people who bitch about the slow line and then when they get their turn JUST STAND THERE and DO NOTHING waiting for the cashier to BAG!!!
I went into our local market just last Friday morning and there were no carts in the carousels or in the parking lot. When I asked at customer service I was told they were getting in new carts but they didn’t want the old and new mixed up so they removed all the old ones. The new ones ‘should arrive later today’.We’re pretty sure that the store manager simply doesn’t like customers.
Ahh…the tinny, whinny, shinny sounds of those who are mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore…rather than rolling up their sleeves and making the world a better place, one thing at one time.
2 weeks ago, I went into my local grocery store (the kind that is overpriced, compared to everyone else), and grabbed a basket, and noticed there were no carts in the entire front store. (This is a place that sells store brand bread for $4/loaf, and a pack of hot dogs for $6!). As I walked by the customer service desk, I simply said “excuse me, there’s no carts in the vestibule, can you please get someone outside?”
I believe it. There gave been times I have entered a store and not finding any baskets so I have to walk to the checkouts where they have stacks of them. I use to let them know about the problem but mist if the stores are understaffed. The grocery carts are more important than the baskets.
I don’t know why every grocery doesn’t do what Aldi does. You pay a quarter for the cart, and then get the quarter back when you return it. This saves labor (Aldi is notoriously labor efficient) and keeps a clean, neat parking lot.
Often I will see someone out in the parking lot starting to return a cart, and offer them a quarter for it to save them a few steps at no cost to myself. An easy good deed.
I see a lot of “just grab a cart on the way in” comments…but you have to understand that “customer service” used to mean something…Carts would be brought in, someone would check you out, someone would bag your groceries…heck, once upon a time, they even wheeled your cart to your car for you! But now, we have gotten used to self check out, get your own cart, bag your own groceries….I miss the days of more service from the store instead of self service.
I don’t like it when they leave motorized carts in the parking lot. I usually return them to the store. Especially if the weather is crappy. I’m not disabled but I know people who are. They need to be able to find one in decent condition.
When I was a child at the Stanley Park zoo I overheard a boy ask his dad why he didn’t want to give any of his popcorn to the birds. There were ducks, swans, pelicans, peacocks, gulls and many other breeds. The boy’s rotund father replied, “Why should I feed them while I starve?” (Eyeroll)
When I was about 8 months pregnant I was pushing my shopping cart out the automatic door. There were 3 for going out and 3 for going in. A man decided that I was in his way and shoved my cart into my belly. I stood there with tears in my eyes while he yelled at me that I was in his way so he wouldn’t have to listen to me try to reason with him. Why are people so mean to me? There was no one around to see or hear me crying.

Read lots of stories about such people on not always right.com. Hard to believe they really exist….never saw one in the wild in this country.

Some people would complain if you hung them with a new rope because it itched.

I’ve brought in stray carts to use in the store so the employees don’t have to do it. I same them a little trouble and it’s not a big deal to me.

Wonder if Greg ever was in Germany. I met that guy here – and his wife.

This is why I like Aldi Stores. 99% of the people take the cart back to get their quarter back, and are out side under cover!

Is there a male variant of the name “Karen”?
jeffbcravens68 about 2 years ago
I’m betting he waited for the spot closest to the door by holding up traffic for 15 minutes.
