Voters are so easily duped? Who woulda guessed? Well, that was back in 1997. Fortunately, we’re way past that now!

As a Probation officer for 30 plus years I got to see and supervise thousands of folks on probation for numerous offenses. Majority got off probation without any problems, threesome who were f**king idiots who because they were criminals, alcoholics, or druggies who can or would not give it up using drugs or alcohol in order to be successful released. They were the worst cases I supervised, eventually I filed probation violations, they were violated by the court and off to jail or prison. Many after doing their time came back to the court system on an another charge or charges. The process started all over again. Many of the alcoholics and drug offenders are now your homeless masses. Hard to feel sorry for them, unless there are kids involved. Many of the homeless will not give up the bottle or drugs despite their circumstances. You can try, but it is damn hard row to hoe.

It is certainly interesting how little our political and social concerns have changed in 25 years. Then, again…

It was not brilliant but it was a first step to the decriminalization many states have since adopted. While there are addictive personalities who will abuse marijuana, alcohol and pizza, most people just want to relax at home with something that makes television look more interesting. :)
