    I’ve never heard of anyone trying to ban any books in the US except teaching the historical value of the Bible in California. Books are routinely edited for sex, violence and language to make them suitable for a particular age group.

    People only want to make sure their children are reading age-appropriate books and that controversial topics are introduced by parents. Nobody’s banning books or burning bookstores.

    No one’s trying to tell grown adults what they can or can not read. Parents are trying to take back the education of their kids.

    Nobody I know or have seen recently has banned books. Some parents are correctly concerned about age-appropriate books being available only to those readers who are mature enough to handle the content. Parental choice as to when a child is ready to consume information is important.

    We can learn a lot from the ideas of other people. My Great- Grandfather, Frank Schweinfurth, Sr. helped create the Republican Party. My Father, G. Walter Schafer, taught me that I can learn from people with whom I disagree. Both liberals and conservatives have become targets of censorship.
