Hey, keep listening to new ideas and pretty soon you’re making sense. We can’t have any of that.

Alvin Toffler wrote ‘Future Shock’ over 50 years ago. His take was that the 21st Century would be so full of change that many people would lose touch with reality as they tried harder and harder to cling to what they saw as ‘normal.’

I think we as a society are living the Virginia Satir ‘Process of Change Model’ and it’s 4 stages: late status quo, chaos, practice and integration, and new status quo. It can get ugly in stage 2.

Well, yes and no; it kind of depends on the idea. I would say the strong-minded person – man or woman – can examine the ideas presented ( pushed, if you will) and make up their own mind as to whether they’re worth adopting or not.

    A wonderful quote and inspiration.

This is the reality we still need to overcome, as Dr. King so eloquently phrased it so very many years ago, and it is why we need that very inspiration to forge a long, long, too long overdue future…

I have been thinking and reading about Trump, his words and his actions. I have realized that I have been sucked into his nightmare. His nightmare is about Fear. It is about the fear of not being good enough, the fear of losing your power, the fear that other people might be better than you. It is for that reason that Trump tries to push people down, to make them less than they can be.

This day on which we celebrate the life of one of our heroes, Martin Luther King, whose life was dedicated to lifting people up, it is appropriate that we say to Trump, I have no use for your nightmare, because I have a dream. I live in a state where 64% of the population is not White and I say to you Mr. Trump this is not a nightmare; it is an opportunity to be better than we were. California has become the success that we are because we have embraced our diversity, because we believe in our dream that our ”children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” - MLK

Mr. Trump, we invite you to put aside your hate, your racism and your fear filled nightmare and to join our dream that “We hold these truths to be self‐evident, that all men are created equal.” So that together we may be “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty we are Free at last.” – MLK

I’ve never feared change, but I have on occasion resisted it. I grew up reading every science fiction story I could find, and I think that prepared me for the inevitable changes I’ve seen. Not all good, not all bad, but each offering a chance to make the world a better place. I’m getting too old to change much more in my life, but I gotta say, I’ve rolled with the punches in my life, and still came out smiling. I don’t think Life has mistreated me, but it has shown me the error of my ways a time or two.

The world is in constant change and always has been. I have counseled grandchildren on their college education and advised that whatever their career choice, get an education that allows and expects constant change in every aspect of their life.

Change, in and of itself, is neither good nor bad. It all depends on what is changed from and what is changed to; Hitler’s rule was a change after all.

The man has tasted true power and will continue to seek it oncemore. I think he has laid a huge permanent stain on the office of the president casting a shadow upon the last 44 office holders however imperfect they were forever.

It’s so nice to see that Trump is living rent free inside your heads. As for me, my wife and I celebrated her birthday yesterday. Life goes on! You need to let go of your hate.
