Speaking of “evil twins”, I think Bok is his own evil twin, each one trying to be more evil than the other.

So is Bok denying the history of racism in the US, or saying we ought to celebrate it?

The loss of an incomplete history and statues to traitors? At the cost of a nationalistic symbol? I can live with that.

Statues are something to look up to and revered… We took down a statue of Sir John A MacDonald because of forced boarding schools for indigenous children:

It seems that Bok hasn’t a grip on the word “woke”. Refusing to honor slavers is the opposite of expurgating slavery from the history books.

What’s happening is that Democrats are trying to rewrite their role of slavery, misogyny, Jim Crow, intolerance and hate. All those statues taken down are of Democrats and they can’t abide their constant reminder of their guilty history which carries on to this day. Oh yeah they haven’t changed all that much from when they created the KKK, just refocused their hate, racism and intolerance. They’ve always hated Republicans, that hasn’t changed but now their racism is focused on Whites, Jews and Asians. You see proof of this whenever AOC, Tlaib and their crew get in front of a camera and shoot off their mouths.

No, we shouldn’t be destroying the face of our history, but neither should we celebrate past errors. A statue of Stonewall Jackson in his home town square of Lexington, VA celebrating a great general is one thing, but naming a Dallas TX elementary school after him in 1939 – specifically to show support for white supremacy – is another.

Folks say the Right wants to whitewash history, but the “woke” Left wants to eliminate it unless the person was pure as the driven snow and meets all of their ideas of what a person should be like. It was another time, people thought and lived differently. We can not hold them to our standards of today. How many of your parents and grandparents hold the same view when they were young as you do? Have any racists in your family? Maybe they changed their views but for many of the woke, that makes no difference, they are condemned for all time. Granddad was a hatefull man and a traitor to the cause. He voted for Reagan. And how many of us hold the Left to the same standards in all things? Do you think its proper that certain Democrats in Congress use their information to make money in the Stockmarket before that knowledge is common knowledge? Pelosi does. Yes our forfathers did bad things, they thought bad thoughts. WE need to acknowledge this, but if we just eliminate them from history as some want, then we have no history. Learn from it, grow from it but don’t kill it.

Republicans are preserving our racist history by redistricting black voter blocks and replacing their leaders with white racist republicans who are making laws so they don’t have to count the votes of the people they hate.

If all the statues, monuments and namesakes made to enemies of the United States of America were taken down, and the true history of this Great Nation written properly for all Americans to know, Uncle Sam would not only be alive and kicking, but be thriving. Clarence’s evil twin is as much a liar like the one he serves.

The statues aren’t gone, and history has not been “re-written.”

Why do you feel so threatened by the truth Mr. Bok?

Wait a sec! If Uncle Sam doesn’t exist without America’s racist history, is Bok saying he endorses the argument that the country we know would not have come to be without slave labor?

Statues are NOT “history.” They’re monuments, meant to honor their subjects. You want history? Read a book. Preferably not a textbook since Texas drives that content for the nation.

You don’t have to venerate racists to know that they existed — and the statues were never erected to accurately recount history in the first place. Quite the opposite, in fact. This is not erasing history. This is restoring it.
