Geez, way to honor the bravery and sacrifice of our service members, Bok.

  2. 3 months ago on Jeff Danziger

Somebody help me out here. I’m a political progressive who usually finds Danziger right up my alley, but all I’m seeing in todays’s cartoon is an offensive stereotype of “white trash” Southerners. Is there some nuance I’m missing? Because I’m as turned off by cartoons that lazily appeal to the prejudices of liberals as I am by those that lazily appeal to the prejudices of conservatives.

    I love Will’s snowfall scenes.

Love the reflection of the whistle balloon. Great touch.

Nobody says that Trump is a Russian secret agent. Rather, he’s been described by some as a Russian asset, a term that doesn’t mean he’s doing their direct bidding. His echoing of Russian talking points could be a result of their having compromising information on him or of his simply being a useful idiot—someone who makes arguments in their favor without comprehending them. Either would make him an asset, but not a spy.

Hahaha, Bok accidentally wrote BIDEN when he meant to write TRUMP.

Outstanding use of the comics medium, Will! Not to mention funny!

I’ve wanted for years to find an old Ron Cobb cartoon set in Santa’s workshop, where the elves are grimly working beneath a sign on the wall showing a stern, Big-Brother-like Santa and the words HE SEES YOU WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING. Any chance a reader here has an image of it?

  9. over 1 year ago on Gary Varvel

Not only a bizarre fantasy that winning a bare majority is some great victory, but depicting a gavel smashing someone whose spouse was viciously assaulted with a hammer is grotesque. I admire Varvel’s visual imagination even though I disagree with his politics and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him go so low. Did he really not see the connection?

I liked the movie a lot. Disch’s book leans closer to horror.
