Even my cats get worked up by squirrels they see through the sliding doors and windows.

I had a shepherd mix many years ago that would climb the ladder when my dad was cleaning the gutters and roof, but when he would get to the top rung he would realize he was off the ground and collapse screaming because he was scared of heights. Pop, of course, couldn’t get down ’til somebody got the dog off the ladder. I miss that old pup and I miss my old Pop.

Our cats did that to the neighbor’s dog. One would let the dog chase her while the other ate the dog’s food, and once the first cat ate her fill, they’d switch spots. The dog lost weight and got plenty of exercise, though…

The fact at the end is a good one. When I was a cop, we responded to all 911 calls, hangups, etc. I went to one once and there was no response at the door. All the doors were locked, but inside we could see a German Shepherd, pacing nervously. He wasn’t barking at us knocking. I decided we should gain entry, so we forced our way in, and found the lady passed out in a severe diabetic reaction. The dog was not aggressive at all. He knew we were there to help. That dog saved her life!

Point of reality: Since dog food is largely meat-based, and squirrels are herbivores, an actual squirrel wouldn’t munch down on Marm’s dinner.

Of course, that’s ignoring the impossibility of Marm getting up to the roof, since dogs don’t climb, which leaves me agreeing with Phil.

Dogs can climb trees! Really!. I had a dobie who would follow me anywhere. Even climb fences and trees with me. … sigh….she was the most loyal, loving bff any girl could ever have. Well, maybe the spaniel was a close second, or maybe it was the coyote/Aussie mix, or maybe it’s this chunky, crippled chewie-mix purse pupper? Doggers are all so great,,,even some kitties are heroes….sigh….all great loyal pals. Never figured out how I got so lucky to have so many personal pet friends.
