Hard to believe but when the Born Loser was born, the Beatles had already appeared on the Ed Sullivan show! And I can still remember watching that! One of my first television memories. “And now ladies and gentlemen, we bring you a really big ‘shoe’. Let’s hear it for the BEATLES!” And then 1,000s of teenage girls in the studio audience let out the loudest audible shriek that has never been matched on television speakers since!
I remember, as I was refereeing soccer, coloring my beard. It made me look 20 years younger. But, I caught a lot of flack from players and fans. Then I happened to let the coloring fade away and discovered that the beard was now an iron gray. All of of sudden, flack from the players went away. I guess it’s hard to say bad things about someone that looks like your grandfather. The fans eased up too, but the young coaches had no problem cursing out dad.

then what do you want him to refer it as? You don’t say that without replacing it or it’ll just come back in secret or worse, in public…

I think Brutus should start his stories with, “when I was your age”. Of course nothing turns kids off faster than saying that.

No Born Loser today. When a child wants to hear stories from an adult’s past, that is golden time.
