Well, Gorrell it WOULD be free sooner if you and the rest of the anti-vaxxers just got vaccinated and actually help us beat this thing.

You THINK you’re abandoning your freedom to get the vaccine but you’re actually helping yourself get more freedom sooner the earlier you get your vaccine.

    IT’S NOT THAT HARD!

Most of us understand that we live in a society that requires a bit of effort on our part to maintain it. Alas, Gorrell and his ilk have completely failed to understand that “freedom” isn’t and cannot be absolute. Wanna get rich by robbinb a bank? Sorry: You’re free to TRY that, but it won’t work. Wanna walk around unvaxxed and unmasked? You’re currently free to do that… but it’s getting pretty close to the time when you’ll actually find that you can’t do that either.

Um. This leaves me bemused. It does indeed make America exceptional. Not in a brave way, but in a bad way. @@ The sheer bloody stupidity behind it is exceptional. To be fair, other nations have elements as, erm, stupid, but mostly they have been copying the US’s bloody-mindedness. It led the way up this inane path. Would it surprise any of you that QAnon is followed beyond the US borders?

It’s pretty easy, if you don’t want to get vaccinated or wear a mask when appropriate, stay home. Just stay home, no one is making you go anywhere.

It’s time to focus on the vaccinated and the people who legitimately can’t get vaccinated. We’ve spent enough resources on stubborn ignorant, people who won’t do the easiest thing to protect others.

Bob, is your next offering going to be that you should be able to drive drunk because stopping you is infringing on your freedom? Are you going to demand that you be allowed to perform heart surgery without any training? If you have toxic waste is it taking away your rights when you are forbidden to dump it in the public reservoir?

    same Uncle Sam as:

    https://www.gocomics.com/bobgorrell/2020/06/30

    https://www.gocomics.com/bobgorrell/2016/10/03

with a hand with one finger pointing up from another cartoon

Bob Gorrell has a platform, which he could use to convince his readers to get the vaccine, but instead uses it to mock mask wearing and companies mandating their employees get vaccinated.

We’ve spent the last 20 years taking off our shoes and belts, taking our laptops out of our bags and putting them in a separate bin, and throwing away liquids over 6oz every time we go to the airport . Why? Let’s say that these measures actually did help prevent terrorist attacks. People complied with these safety measures to protect their fellow Americans. Why is it different with Covid and vaccines and masks? over 600,000 Americans have died.

hospitals are setting records for people hospitalized with Covid

    https://www.axios.com/florida-records-most-new-covid-cases-0a9d2dad-420f-4374-8b55-b970fb5f0873.html

Hospitals are seeing more children(who aren’t eligible for vaccines yet) in the ICU for severe Covid.

    https://www.local10.com/news/local/2021/07/30/south-florida-childrens-hospitals-report-uptick-in-covid-19-cases-among-children/

refusing to get the Covid vaccine or refusing to wear a mask when around people isn’t a ‘personal responsibility’ choice, those choices have consequences for other people.

Other countries were able to get Covid under control before the vaccine, but the U.S. put all our eggs into the ‘vaccines will save us,’ and now that vaccines are here, we have a large population that have been fed disinformation refusing to get vaccinated.

ICU beds filled by Covid patients who refused to get vaccinated mean less space for other medical emergencies, and continued stress on the doctors and nurses who have worked tirelessly for over a year trying to fight this virus. Meanwhile, you can’t be bothered to draw a single cartoon to demand your readers get the vaccine.

I think if more people had guns. Texas already has some sort of a law that allows you to shoot someone if you think they are a threat. Expand that a bit to include the threat of catching COVID.. heck in no time everyone would be shot and that COVID thing would have no place to replicate. An American solution if ever there was one

    From the N.Y. Times:

    The G.O.P. Menace to Society

What do you call members of a party who, from top to bottom, from elected officials to voters, largely believe a lie and a liar determined to undermine, corrupt and even destroy our democracy? What do you call a party whose leaders use that lie as a pretext to suppress the votes and voices of Americans with whom they disagree? What do you call a party slavishly devoted to a cult over the stability and prosperity of a country?

What do you call a party where many of its members have worked against a lifesaving, society-freeing vaccine in the middle of a pandemic, exposing many of their own followers to the deadly virus, all for the sake of being contrarian, anti-establishment and anti-science?

I call that party a national security threat and a cancer on our democracy.

Charles M. Blow is not having it any more, the demand that civility must be maintained, the pretense that the Republican Party still has any legitimacy.

The total lack of compassion and willingness to do what is needed for the greater good is so lacking in these Covidiots. I attribute it to the “Participation Trophies” from Grade school. Reinforces the notion “I am special and deserve to be rewarded. I don’t have to do anything I don’t want to do.” And so these whiners make the restrictions go on and on, and possibly be the reason why there might be developing even worse variations.GET the frikkin’ VACCINE and wear a damn mask if it is suggested.

‘Hole up here, lefty radicals. I think Brainy Bob is on to something. Masks — give me a break. This whole mask tyranny is part of a larger conspiracy to make one of them worlds that work for everyone. Spare me. What about our rights? What about our gawd-given ability to take personal responsibility for our own actions? We need to go beyond talk and I’ve made the decision as a gen-u-ine, red-blooded, white male ‘Merican to take a stand. The days of me obeyin’ them damn gov’ment signs on the freeway tellin’ me that I can’t drive over such-and-such speed and in such-and-such direction, and sayin’ I got to drive in “lanes” (what is this, a bowling alley?) are over. If you get in my way, take a little personal responsibility and move your pussy-footin’, mask-covered, whiney progressive butt off the road. And don’t get me started on gun control. Hell, they won’t even let me buy my own F-4e Phantom (I can’t fly them new-fangled fighters like the F-15, F-22, and such). Why I even got myself a friend who’s a damn fine Wisso to take care of business in the back seat — he’s up for it. Hell, I wouldn’t use it to nape liberals — only to defend myself from them and the Jewish space-lasers. Ya’ all know what they say: “When F-4s are banned only criminals will have F-4s.” Jeez — I’ll even pay for my own JP-4. And don’t get me started with those commies at Costco. What? I gotta show a Costco card to get in? Pullease! Who the hell says? And why the requirement that I have to pay for my selection — it’s already discounted. (The tyranny is crushing — dang progressive oppressors)? So, trust me. I’m with you Bob because I’m standing up like a real man. A real one. I got a Ford Super Duty pickup. I wear camo. I’m manly. Really. I really, truly am. I ain’t no wimp. No sir. Nope. Not at all. Red-blooded. Chicks dig me (well, not right now, but they will). Yep. That’s right. I’m somebody. You, too, Bob, an don’t let ’em tell you different. Hang in there, little buddy.

The real reason behind this anti-vax campaign is simply that Biden and his team set a goal on getting Americans vaccinated and it looked like they were going to reach that goal. The Republicans can’t be having with that.

Land of the Free has had a very interesting interpretation since America’s inception. Those words were chosen while the US still had slavery within their borders as well as continued the subjugation and relocation of Natives to build a nation that was meant to be an extension of Europe; not actual multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-racial diversity and inclusion. All freedom has left and right limits; aka, laws, regulations, guidelines, mandates meant to establish law and order, rule of law, and the collective good.
