George Washington’s greatest fear of political parties was that they would become 2 geographically, as well as ideologically, separated cohorts leading to a civil war. Nixon’s Southern Strategy contributed greatly to that becoming a reality. The “purification” of the GOP culled out the liberal and moderate and the Democratic party’s reaction which effectively did the same by removing their conservative and moderate elements. We now have 2 parties dividing the nation against each other for highly emotional often irrational reasons with a strong feeling that members of the other party are immoral, untrustworthy, and undeserving of respect. The enemies of the indivisible United States could not have executed a better plan for dividing and weakening our once caring nation than our two ruthless — winner-take-all, no matter how — political parties have accomplished. Washington’s greatest fear is being realized. The essential mix of liberal and conservative ideas in BOTH parties that have worked for centuries FOR the people has been stolen by power-seeking, out-of-control political parties that no longer serve the needs of an indivisible nation.

So what’s wrong? The party on the right is bullish on America. Or should two extra letters be added to “bullish”?

There needs to be a price paid for Jan. 6, 2021 or those vile scum get to continue. There can be no justice, no reconciliation until those who attacked and those who promoted it are punished. One side of the government refuses to reach across the aisle and even continues to deny it even happened, denying even that they threatened to lynch members of their own party. Some Americans seem to find it more than just fine that “criminals” who hold a cell phone, sell single cigarettes, drive while not being white get shot. How can this country not make insurrectionists be tried in light of that and still call itself a nation of justice?

Appears to me that the point of the toon is to tell us that many of these law enforcement agencies have people in their employment who are QANON and GOPQ believers. They are intent on undermining our democratic form of government and taking away guaranteed rights such as the free and fair vote.

These people include some Capitol cops who welcomed their fellow “true believers” and gave them directions to specific offices. The chain goes up to John Roberts along with the most corrupt administration we have had in a century that fortunately lasted only one term before imploding.

Legitimate investigative agencies are trying to identify the traitors and Insurrectionists get them out; including those deserving to be prosecuted. Most of these knucklewalkers now being identified are clueless that they were following the directions on websites originating in China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, etc.

We are in wierdzo world for sure when Pelosi appoints Liz Cheney for one of the Democrat seats on that investigation.

We haven’t found out which fine Trumpublicans will be named to take part – how curious it would be if the individuals named to impede the investigation were discovered through that investigation to be complicit and conspiring in the invasion? Wouldn’t have to go far to find and arrest them!

MqQarthy is threatening House RQP members against accepting assignment to the committee by Pelosi. He’s already stripped Cheney of her leadership role and the other 9 Repubs who voted to impeach Herr Gropingfuror on the second set of charges have been made pariahs.

Kevin McCarthy reacted appropriately at first, pleading with Trump to call off the insurrectionists. Trump responded with “Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are.”.

Now Kevin is threatening to remove any Repub from committees if they agree to be part of a 1/6 investigation. Instead, he wants to have a hearing about Covid, trying to push the “lab created” theory. He’s saying an investigation is needed to determine why 600,000 people died in the U.S. while ignoring that he and his cohorts were refusing to wear masks and socially distance and are still anti-vaccines.

Seems Kevin is only interested in theater and doesn’t care about good governance. Therefore the symbol of the bad actor whose Mommy had to ask for him to get a special diet is perfect.

There is no doubt that at the moment what remains of our democracy is in grave peril. When the Republican Party chooses to side with traitors who tried to overthrow the government simply because they supported one of their own, something is terribly wrong.

And there are those still willing to defend #45, who gleefully incited the event and would have benefited from it, even when his own VP was at personal risk.

Find it odd that McCarthy and his fellow Trumpers want to strip committee assignments from any Republican House members who participate in the Jan. 6 investigation. Keeping Republicans out of the committee reduces any effect they may have on its actions and determinations. It also reduces those Republicans’ input into other legislation being written. They would be cutting off their own noses to spite their own faces.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the forces who could control this movement’s continued attack on our democracy are willing to stop them. As many reports have indicated, there are many police officers and military personnel involved with the people/orgs who staged the Jan. 6th attack. I don’t they will act to stop future attacks or try to ferret out the lone wolf actors. In fact, those people may continue to further the effort.

I am NOT blaming all police and military personnel, just those who are actively involved whether they’ve been identified or are still hiding in bunkers.

And, elected officials — well, we’ve seen what half of them will do. I keep hoping the sane Republicans will say, “Screw you, Mitch and Kevin, we’re going to be on the right side of history!” and vote to find out what happened lost committee assignments be damned. Those two have already manufactured a way for the investigation to be discredited by voting against an independent investigation. I expect the 6-3 SCOTUS will back up the Republicans in whatever way they try to obstruct prosecution and that the SCOTUS Six will further facilitate future insurrections or destroy laws protecting democracy…anyone read the cart blanche they gave to Arizona to strip the right to vote from many voters?

The real dilemma is if responsible Republicans keeping retiring or vote against the crazed majority, there will be more GQPs elected. Of course, many “sane” ones have yet to vote to support democracy, so…maybe we need more moderate Dems.

I am ashamed of how the Capitol and DC police officers have been treated or ignored. It’s amazing to me how anyone can say they are honorable patriots when they do nothing but stare the mom of an officer who lost his life and an officer we’ve watched over and over nearly lose his. Or worse, refuse to even acknowledge the pain officers who ARE patriots suffered and empower those who caused it to try again without fear of punishment.

I’m curious about RatFN Roger Stone and his Oath Keeping entourage. Trump’s mafia training precludes direct connection to the actual terrorists but Stone or his republican allies might not be as careful.
