They’ve been doing that for 2,000 years. What’s so shocking about a church insisting its members follow its teachings?

Can you confess to supporting the right to choose and recieve absolution and then take communion? I was raised as s Reform Jew. One of the cool things about the Reform flavor, and most of the rest, is that there’s no hierarchy. Also in Reform there’s no dogma. The Bible is kind if a historical allegory. Everything’s open to debate. Arguing is a cultural tradition. Even so, I became an agnostic.

They always have reserved that right-for whatever reason the old men in Rome decided. This is nothing new

What if “C,” (for celibacy,) were added to LDBTQ? After all, celibacy is no less an “aberration.”

And they were worried that Rome would run the country if Kennedy was elected. OK, I realize it is not Rome now but just a minority group of dried up old impotent supposedly-celibate wienies wearing hand maiden dresses.

If they can convince a minority of rabbis and Muslim clerics to go after their elected officials then maybe we can get a real modern civil war going. The Evangelicals are already organized and shooting.

It’s the sameO hypocrisy. Murderers and thieves and sexual predators are welcomed in to repent and are ‘good catholics’, but someone who never had and does not support abortion, but does support another’s right to choose, is not a good catholic.

Dirty old white men (you know…the same guys who have aided and abetted the clergy pedophiles for centuries)…. trying to punish a morally good man who while not agreeing with freedom of choice, stands by our right to choose. Meanwhile, these are the same clergy who promoted a criminal conman with a history of serially groping and raping women simply because he proclaimed to be anti-abortion just to appeal to the religious communities for their vote….bah…humbuggers…just another example of severe misogynistic rule by dirty old white men who want to use religion to keep women as unpaid Gilead style broodmares.

When Jesus celebrated the very first communion with His 12 disciples, He shared the cup and the bread with all of them. He included Judas even though He knew that Judas was a sinner and would betray Him. No one should be denied communion because of personal grievances by the church. The Bishops are being arbitrary like the Pharisees were over 2,000 years ago.

It is easy to take a vow of poverty when all of your needs (and some of your wants) are already covered by others. It is also easy to be against abortion when it is not something you have to worry about.

They have installed themselves as princes and demigods and live splendidly off the charity of their subjects. Do they follow their own rules? Did JFK receive communion from the catholic church?

I wonder if the Catholic church is aware that the USA has this thing called “separation of church and state”. I also wonder if they are aware that Joe Biden is the President of that nation.

I was refused Baptist communion, because I didn’t agree with the Pastor, on letting him control the money. As a Baptist Deacon, I obeyed the Holy Spirit and not the Pastor. I still feel that the Trustees should control the money in a Baptist church.

Just like Jesus! Wait! WWJD? Oh yeah, inconvenient truth for the bishops. Romans 15:7-8 So reach out and welcome one another to God’s glory. Jesus did it; now you do it! Jesus, staying true to God’s purposes, reached out in a special way to the Jewish insiders so that the old ancestral promises would come true for them. As a result, the non-Jewish outsiders have been able to experience mercy and to show appreciation to God. Just think of all the Scriptures that will come true in what we do! For instance:

Then I’ll join outsiders in a hymn-sing;I’ll sing to your name! (The Message.) Hypocrites all!!

All the “Community Hospitals” in our neck o’ the woods are owned and operated by the Catholic cartel – all named Saint Something-Or-Other – who refuse to provide abortion or end-of-life services AS HAVE BEEN SPECIFICALLY PASSED INTO LAW by (WA) statewide referenda. So if a citizen is desirous of these services, he/she must not approach St. Michael the Pervert, St. Edna the Bully, or St. Francis Asinus Asinorum.

Er, no. The Bishops cannot refuse communion unless, individually, one of them is celebrating that rite. It’s between the priest and the communicant. And it always has been. Mind you, I think the whole thing is merely a ritual that makes some people feel better and some feel grateful… and that true believers are literally not sane. But that’s me.

The (current) Pope apparently apologized for Catholic “crimes” in Ireland, but, despite having asked a number of times (by a the Truth & Reconciliation Commission, by the Prime Minister) to apologize for many Catholic-church abuses in Canada (particularly in residential schools), he has declined to do so. This is allegedly because the Catholic Bishops of Canada have opposed such an apology. https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2021/06/04/archbishop-of-toronto-offers-explanations-why-catholic-church-hasnt-apologized-for-residential-school-victims.html

Extremely conservative priests, who were the only priests to be promoted during Saint John Paul ll reign, continue to bedevil those who would pay heed to the Word of Christ.
