That’s one way to do it!

As a former (terrible) 8th grade pole vaulter, I can tell you that the “pit”(?) you slide the pole in is slanted toward the landing pad. Would be really tough to balance the pole to climb it…

I believe they had this problem with the Japanese pole vaulting team in the early Olympics.
