I hope to remember this past year with at least a feeling of having learned something. But have to admit, my life under covid wasn’t MUCH affected… though my absolute favorite thing (pattern dancing in large groups) was put on hold entirely. Even there I found out that I could manage.

Those works were done in Photoshop. I can see how layer masking was applied.

Interesting. The paintings are wearing masks but the people aren’t. Maybe the paintings should have been like this one of the Black Death in Paris:

So long as the nudes only covered their faces, I can’t see what the problem is. Oh, dear, how sexist …

The exhibition artist had a very productive year. He had to stay home and work instead of going down to the bar (claiming it was in search of ‘inspiration’) and he was never very good at drawing faces.

Oh, ‘Inspiration’ is the name of a particularly cheap gin.

Wondering . . . if calendar art still exists, has it changed to include masks?

Was reading about past epidemics and. . .guess what? Seems many wore masks during the dreaded bubonic plague outbursts. . .and saw PLENTY of pix during the Spanish flue outbreak in 1918-1921 or so. WHAT IS THE FRIGGING BIG DEAL? Have never heard such ridiculous pouty/whininess for absolutely nothing.

I’ll be so glad when we can get 2020 way behind us. Even in the comics.

all of those cartoonists who made story archs around masking, have dated their work. Wonder if someone will “not get it” in a decade or two. I hope so.

I see in the news, t$$$p’s portrait is hung in the White House, does the White House have a vomitorium? That would be the best spot for that turd’s picture. Second choice, the loading dock, hang it over the trash compacter.

Masking didn’t work then, and it doesn’t work today UNLESS you have the proper mask, are fit tested, and have been properly trained. Otherwise they are just placebo masks to make you feel good without actually doing anything.
