Taking the high road to internationalism is a win-win, where no jobs are lost — exported at the current wage, creating new customers/consumers — rather than the low road of supply-side’s commoditizing of wages and pursuing the lowest labor costs around the world diminishing its value here.
There was a time when demand-side economics kept wages proportional to productivity/GDP and middle-class workers were respected and could afford to buy American-made goods. A return to democratic competitive capitalism from monopolistic authoritarian corporatocracy and respect for ALL Americans would allow them to have nice things like our peer democracies already have [universal health care, affordable housing, and education, family leave, etc].
I don’t know if the Democrats can deliver these things, but I do know that the Republicans have not even tried to level the opportunity/justice playing field and show respect for the American middle-class … only offering a temporary tax break at the cost of our decaying infrastructure, leaving their children the task of fixing it. It would be nice to see if the Democrats could do better with control of the presidency and Congress for more than one term but that is not likely in our broken, deeply partisan, self-obstructive, political system.
BY THE WAY… for anyone who needs an example of “Sour Grapes” in the real world… check out THIS NUGGET of stupidity from Agolf Twitler…
Several months after being kicked off his favorite social media platform, Former President Donald Trump maintains he does not miss Twitter and claims his substitute press releases are “more elegant” anyway.
Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity in a sit-down interview on Monday that he believes he transformed Twitter from a “failed … concept” to a platform that was “very exciting,” according to Newsweek.
The former president, who started sending press releases via email to get around his social media bans, also claimed his new way of communicating was “better.”
“I’m really getting a big word out because we’re doing releases,” Trump said, according to Newsweek. “And every time I do a release it’s all over the place. It’s better than Twitter, much more elegant than Twitter. And Twitter now is very boring, a lot of people are leaving Twitter.”
Yes, we are all in this together. We can’t be isolationists and just do what’s good for the US. With Covid, we may soon reach herd immunity, but if our neighbor countries don’t reach that goal, then we will have Covid in our lives for longer than desired. Just as we have to come together as a nation to beat back the virus, we of the US have to join the world to at least stop global warming from getting worse.
Biden is a long way from making the world “great”. In various ways, he’s making slight improvements, but in other ways, he’s just continuing the catastrophic policies of his predecessors; military empire, militarization of police, corporate hegemony, and the one that overrides all others, environmental obliteration.
It is SO NICE to be able to wake up in the morning and look at the news without having to wonder: “Oh God, what has that Fat Orange MORON done THIS TIME??”

Nice way to point out one of the very clear distinctions between the orange mistake and the current administration.
