If you really want to avoid infection, you should use brass instead of gold. It smells funny, but from what I understand that smell actually comes from the anti-microbial properties: the bacteria breaking down generate it.

Twenty bucks can get you plenty in the Philippines. Early last year, I went to a hospital twice in one week to have my sore shoulders looked at. The price for two doctor consults, two x-rays, a blood draw and test (with no insurance)? Twenty bucks.

Everything is so affordable except cars and you don’t really need one of those to get around. Taxis are cheap and jeepneys are DIRT cheap. I like The Phils for many, many reasons and I’m staying.

It would have been nice if someone thought to put up the one of Snoopy at Normandy on D Day.

In today’s world, it could be around $40-$50, unless you have health insurance.

The cost of a Drs. visit is not so much about inflation as that people didn’t have insurance to cover office visits. Major Medical policies were more popular. You paid for the small stuff an your insurance covered large costs. This kept prices down for Dr visits. If government insurance was done this way the cost of health care would be much lower. In my opinion.

Use plastic earrings. Those don’t leave any wounds.

Marcie sure knows a lot about ear-piercing. Notice her hairstyle blocks her ears, too.

$106 – $20 adjusted for inflation – doesn’t even get you in the door unless somebody else, such as an insurance company, is covering the rest of it.

Of course you also need one more thing: parental permission.

For the amount doctors charge these days I should be able to be faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive….

I have so many piercings I’ve lost count. And none of them cost 20 bucks.

This takes me back. In 1990 we charged $20 for a routine office visit. Good times.Inflation? What inflation? Hey, let’s print some more money!

First, I never thought doctors would do ear piercings. And second, Patty has a point about what you pay for that fee and what you ought to get.

I became allergic to nickel as well, someone told me to dip the post of my earrings in COTIZONE cream before putting them in my ears. It stopped the itching and redness for me.
