I don’t think anyone has yet pointed out the reference to the John Carpenter film They Live, where Rowdy Roddy Piper says, (at least approximately) “I’m here to kick ass and chew gum, and I’m all out of gum”.

Great movie in a so bad it’s good kind of way.

I remember a British parody of this phenomenon. The protagonist’s catchphrase was “I haven’t got a catchphrase”, repeated at every opportunity. Made as much sense as some of the ones out there. :)
