I can remember when Texas rural roads in wet weather were just long stretches of churned mud. Even into the 1960s rural carries kept Model A or Model T cars at local garages or filling stations to deliver the mail in those areas during wet weather. If the cars had knobby tires they rarely got stuck. If they did a couple of farm boys could push them out easily.
I know that is not what that cartoon was about, but this depicts a Model T Ford that would get the job done. Henry Ford was known to give brand new Model Ts to rural carriers, long after they were no longer in regular production.Your “Movie Knowledge” of this car is wrong.
I know some people who worked for DeJoy before he became Postmaster General. They say he was hard to work for, and showed little care or respect for his employees who were in the trenches. They are not surprised at the turmoil he has created. Yeah he inherited a tough situation, but he accepted that challenge and should not be making it worse.
Mr. DeJoy was chortling about the fact that Biden couldn’t “fire” him, and, on that score, he is correct. However, the Postal Board of Governors DOES have the authority to fire the man, and Biden just nominated three new people to sit on the board – it seems that Trump never thought it important enough to keep the board up to full strength!
Jimmy Kimmel pointed out last night that despite the USPS’s money troubles, they’re still about to come out with an all new mail delivery van. I hope its an EV.
The USPS has always been mandated to carry the mail efficiently and at low cost to the users, even if there’s some red ink involved. The GOP more recently, has wanted to privatize it entirely to a for-profit (for their friends and owners) operation. DeJoy isn’t destroying it just for the fun of it, he’s doing the job he was hired to do.
Boy howdy! We keep racking up demanding phone calls and emails as well as late fees trying to keep up with bill paying – even though we mail them out up to ten days in advance. Creditors are acting like there’s no problem – like we’re just deadbeats.
The Postal Service is among the nation’s largest employers of veterans and disabled veterans and actively recruits men and women in uniform.about.usps.com › CSPO_09_083Employee Recruitment – About USPS home
Well done Mr Davies. The current Board of Governors for the USPS actually created the first Mission Statement in the history of the USPS… and then proceeded to violate it. Every one of them should be replaced, but charged with violation of their Trust. DeJoy should be jailed.

My Dad was a rural carrier for 30+ years. He was quite willing to make the union miserable when they tried to Throw their weight around.

It was done to interfere with the 2020 election as the GOP know that 45 was NOT popular and was going to lose

I’d like to see the guy get nailed for removing the sorting machines and other essential things just to cause delays to mail-in votes.

I had a great uncle who delivered the mail in a rig like this. Except he had a horse where the engine is.

Maybe they’ll hire kids to show your mail on the lawn or in the bushes instead of delivering it to your mailbox.

If DeJoy (and the republicans) had their way, it would have square wheels with an elderly Pomeranian pulling it.

If Benjamin Franklin were alive today . . . would he tell the Republicans to “go fly a kite” ? In a thunder storm . . .?

There are times when I think bringing back the Pony Express would be an improvement in faster USPS mail delivery.
