I grew up in florida in the 50s and 60s. this flag was ubiquitous but it never meant a damn thing to me. just seemed to be some sort of redneck silliness. It’s not that i ignored it, i simply didn’t “see” it as anything more than a decoration for pickup trucks or curtains for your trailer. i wish i knew then what i know now, maybe i could have shone some light where it was sorely needed.
If Trumpie the Clown was still in office our American Banner would be at Half Staff for that *&$% ! I don’t think that would be right but that never stopped Trumpie the Clown!
to the newly freed slaves the stars and bars represented oppression, along with all the monuments to honor those southerners fighting to preserve that way of life and to implement something just as bad – Jim Crow. A culture that was as perverted as the slavery system that preceded it. The civil right movement in the 50’s and 60’s did the most to cancel the culture of oppression and the current cancellation of the “exalted and beloved stars and bars” is nothing but a step forward in ensuring that that culture is extinguished.
This video is downright INSPIRING. It is by a Conservative who strongly supports the Constitution. He is a power figure in Arkansas and as such, as well as from being a war hero, he also has national standing. His statement takes nine minutes but is very worth hearing since he gets to the most essential points and he describes a way forward which can certainly happen elsewhere, including here.

Hey, depending on the issue I vary (liberal for social issues that increase fair opportunities like civil rights, strong education, retraining for jobs, equal work advancement; old style conservative pre-debt-approach for most fiscal issues except that I strong think that infrastructure repair and replacement programs as a modern New Deal approach could help the nation greatly now and should be done; moderate in most else). Oh, and i am an independent who votes according to things like past voting records of candidates. I do not line vote and consider it lazy.
I have a belief that the flag should be a Soviet Russian one. After all, Rush, along side Ayn Rand, worked for decades to weaken the U.S. by dividing the country so badly.
My great great grandfather, a son of Irish immigrants, fought in the Civil War. I can find his name on a monument in Gettysburg. Every time I see some shit-for-brains jackass waving that flag it feels like old Alex’s grave is being pissed on.

Seems like a reasonable assumption. But what w/ NASCAR forbidding the stars and bars, maybe they’re just sad for the passing of their flag.

A Nazi Swastika flag would be more appropriate.

No. A Rebel flag at half mast means Trump missed a hole-in-one on his last golf outing.

If only trump was still president.. the nation would be called to honor his loss with at least a week of mourning.

one of our state representatives asked our Governor to lower the flag to half staff for him. Thankfully it was not approved

Sung to the tune of Don McLean’s “Miss American Pie”:
“…And the two men I admire least:
‘The former guy’ and his trained Fox beast,
They talked about how they were fleeced
The day
Rush Windbag
Died.
So bye, bye, Misanthropic Old Guy
Drove me crazy – all the ways he
Made democracy cry
Them “good ol’ boys” are thinkin’ "Who else will lie
Half as good as Misanthropic Old Guy?"

…and shouts of joy were heard throughout the land…
Proverbs 11:10-11New International Version bible
10: When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.
11: Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.
