The new face of the Republican party is becoming less of Donald Trump, a sorry, pathetic loser, and more the face of the Q-Anon Q-arens such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert.

And their images and bizarrely absurd reality disconnects must be tattooed in big letters on the foreheads of every Republican who refuses to publicly and loudly repudiate them and the nonsensical absurdities they spew.

It’s quite the ugly, dark shadow.

I have no party affiliation so my comments attempt to counter the growing power of the Trump Party by suggesting an alternative. Departing republicans will leave open slots for the new Trump party to fill, thus pushing them more toward Attila the Hun. The extremists will fracture the party and the vote count for their candidates.

Alternatively, it is clear not all republican voters are Trumpeters. If current office holders can hold their slots and successfully fight off attempts to unseat them, the party might regain some of its balance.

In another view, departing office holders might help reform the neutral ground into an area where each party can work on understanding the other party’s aims and move both parties toward concentrating on the good of the country and not just the individual party.

The good of the country as a whole? A dream, yes, but, after 8 decades of watching it evolve to this point, a dream devoutly to be desired.

The shadow of shame.

Those GOP Senators who vote to acquit Trump by reason of “We got to get reelected” should remember the value of Trump support for two of their ex-chamber mates from Georgia.

I have not one mote of sympathy for Republicans. They made the deal with the devil. The can now live with the devil.

I would say the Republicans have to cut the MAGAts out of the party if they want to have a party left. Since they can’t attract any voters from the right—they were convinced the Republicans were going to back their insurrection and are pissed that they didn’t, the only hope they have is to develop a Republican party that will attract moderates. I would welcome a conservative party that could actually compete with the liberals without lying. That hasn’t happened in the entire time I have been politically aware, roughly 50 years. I don’t agree with a lot of liberal ideas- abortion tops the list, and would be interested in hearing the views of an HONEST conservative party. I have never had that option and once I understand that I am being lied to, even if the person lying seems to believe what he is saying—- actually even more so if he seems to actually believe it, because that’s nuts, so I have always voted Democratic. An honest option might be nice.

Ah, the modern Republican party. Done with the old crazy, on with the new.

The only time there’s no shadow is in full light or full darkness. Let’s hope we move towards the former!

Yes, the shadow, no, STAIN, is there, but only because of their own utterly disgusting, craven cowardice in the face of this man to whom they are less than bugs to be stepped on after he gets tired of their worship. And the irony is that, like all bullies, Trump is a bigger coward than any of them. Inside he’s a cowering, whiny little child needing endless attention while terrified of that need being revealed.
