Ah HA! I’m gonna show this to Bowie, my surprisingly mechanically-minded kitten — 11.5 months old, so still a kitten! — to say, ‘See! We’re onto you!’ >B^D
A purr seems to be related to healing, muscle tone, and certain psychological factors. Last I heard they are still not real clear on how such deep bass notes are generated. It turns out, if you poke or dissassemble a cat, it stops purring.

That “purr box” has been around MUCH longer than the “magic fingers” hotel bed.

Somewhere along the line my boy Boots got an upgrade
When he was young, his purr was so soft we could barely hear it or feel it
Now that he’s a senior cat, he can be heard from the next room

The schematic is incorrect. The settings should read "Loud,’ “louder,” and :Loudest."
