Yep. It was breezy and cold (didja see Bernie’s gloves?) and a WONDERFUL contrast to the prior 4 years.

Four years ago, the Heavens wept. Yesterday there was sunshine. Amen and so be it.

The weather for yesterday’s ceremonies was wonderful. That sea of flags waving in the breeze, bathed in that winter sun brought a tear or 2 for me.

Coincident? I think not. Misty and cloudy when Trump left and then “Aquarius” when Biden was sworn in. “Let the sun shine ….”. An overdone song, but excuse me for using it, I’m feeling giddy right now.

I am reminded of the title of a long, dense poem by Peter Viereck, “Crass Times Redeemed By Dignity of Souls.” I hope that will be the motto for the next four years.

Let us not become complacent. There’s a brutal election coming up in almost 22 months and Miserly Moscow Mitch McConnell will do his utmost to rein in the GOP Leadershit to hamstring Biden’s (I hate this descriptor, but it’s apt) BOLD moves to right the WRONGS/SHIP. I’ve signed up with ActBlue to donate $5 each month to both the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) and the DSCC (Democratic Senate Campaign Committee) to help build the needed war chest we’ll need to INCREASE our House and Senate Majorities. Again: LET US NOT BECOME COMPLACENT. We’ve got a leg up, but the struggle has just begun. What patriot CAN’T afford $220 over the coming two years to protect & preserve our republic’s progress? I refuse to let it become a Pyrrhic victory.

I’m afraid the current euphoria is going to result in some bad decisions. Sure, the Republicans are all delighted to work together, kumbaya incorporated, at least they say so until some work actually needs to be done. Then they will have exactly the same primary agenda that they had during Obama’s administration, to obstruct as much as possible to make Biden look as incompetent as possible and retake the White House in four years. Congress needs to review the rules, and since they are in power, rewrite them to give as much power as possible to the Democrats, so they can make as much progress as possible. They can rewrite the rules with each new congress, and there is no reason to buy into the “make nice” & “achieve unity” rhetoric of Republicans who are currently all for letting bygones be bygones and expecting concessions when they have lost all power to bargain. They are like the snake who needed a ride to be rescued. WE KNOW THEY ARE SNAKES, DON’T TAKE THEM IN. BETTER YET DON’T BE TAKEN IN BY THEM!!!!!

Currently we have two criminals on the Supreme Court, a criminal who is a former Occupant, and of course the rapist-enabler Jim Jordan isn’t even the worst person (to use the term loosely, in his case) in Congress. Let’s not cheer just YET, people!

“Oh, yes I can make it now the pain is gone.

All of the bad feelings have disappeared.

Here is that rainbow I’ve been praying for.

It’s gonna be a bright (bright)

    Bright (bright) sunshiny day.

Look all around, there’s nothing but blue skies.

Look straight ahead, there’s nothing but blue skies.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone.

I can see all obstacles in my way.

Here is that rainbow I’ve been praying for.

It’s gonna be a bright (bright)

Bright (bright) sunshiny day." -(Johnny Nash)
