I doubt that Portland is in Maine as I live kind of close to Portland, Oregon (just have to cross the Columbia River to get to that city and to its airport).

I dunno where Boonhurst or their starting destination is, but:

Chicago to Dallas: 2h30mDallas to LA: 3h30mLA to Atlanta: 4hAtlanta to Portland (OR): 5h30mPortland to Denver: 2h30mDenver to Charlotte: 3h20m

not counting layover times and missing the initial and ending flights he’s already spending 21 hours and 20 minutes in the air. Must be some bad layovers cuz I’d sure imagine this is during the week.

I once asked the airlines if they could fly me from Charlotte to Boston via Dallas, Denver, Cleveland and Philadelphia. They told me that they couldn’t. I asked them, “Why not? The last time you sent my luggage, that’s the route it took.”

The advances in video conferencing technology since this strip was written are looking really good right now.

Our current reasons for taking advantage of them, not so much.

I used to drive rather than fly when I had to take business trips from SC to Crystal River FL. It took about the same amount of time because of the connections and waiting to get a rental car at the Tampa airport, the rental car was more comfortable, I didn’t pay crazy prices for bad airport food, and (although I know the statistics don’t support it) I felt safer.

How about a flight to Charlotte? Then catch the next plane to Boonhurst!

This scene needs to emphasize the incredibly fast and loud clacking of an airline employee’s computer terminal

I once had a long layover at hub airport. I noticed the airport had a pulse. Inside the airport, activity would rise and fall as several flights would arrive in a short time, passengers would go to gates to meet their connecting flights. Activity would die down as the connecting flights took off in a short time.

Next time he should take the bus or the train. Fewer cancelations and only direct line stops. He’d at least get there before Tues. Plus they’re roomier and more comfortable than the sardine cans that pass for planes.
