Trump, in a Tuesday night tweet, called the $900 billion Covid relief bill passed by Congress an unsuitable “disgrace” and urged lawmakers to make a number of changes to the measure, including bigger direct payments to individuals and families.
The president’s tweet, which included a video of him discussing what he considers the bill’s many flaws, came less than 24 hours after the Senate passed the measure.
I can’t wait to see what comes of this. Watching this disaster unfold over the last four years has been absolutely astonishing. I wonder if smoke is coming out of russian stooge Ron Johnson’s ears as his brain grinds itself to dust trying to be both a Trump arsesmoocher and keep up the “debt bad” theatrics.
I think Trump must have skipped civics classes. He has no idea how government should or does function. He thinks that being President makes whatever he says law.
Trump’s latest Christmas pardons: Former Rep. Chris Collins of New York, an early Trump 2016 supporter who was convicted earlier this year of committing securities fraud and lying to the FBI. Former California Rep. Duncan Hunter, another early Trump 2016 supporter who pleaded guilty last December to embezzling campaign funds. Prosecutors had charged Hunter with using more than $250,000 in campaign money on a number of lifestyle expenses. George Papadopoulos, the zero-qualification doofus who served as a “foreign policy adviser” to the Trump 2016 campaign, who pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to federal authorities about the circumstances under which he’d heard that Russia had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. Four former employees of the Blackwater mercenary company who were convicted—three of voluntary manslaughter and one of first-degree murder—for participating in a 2007 massacre in which 17 unarmed Iraqis died. One of the victims of the massacre was a 9-year-old boy. Duncan Hunter, the embezzler, was actually involved in lobbying Trump to issue a pardon he issued previously in another war crimes case, while Blackwater was run by Erik Prince, a behind-the-scenes Trump adviser and right-wing operative who is also Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos’ brother. Just another “normal” day in the Trump White House.
Y’all are granting Trump too much in the way of empathy and compassion. He has none. What happens if Congress decides to take his direction? The checks get delayed, making people suffer longer. Yes, he gets more attention, which is an additional benefit for him, but mostly he just wants to stroke his ego with something he can control at least a little. Delay the checks? Great! Close down the government? Sure! Stop things dead in the water? Absolutely. Compassion and empathy for the working folks? “What do those words even mean? Get outta here!”
