The Democrats wanted to give stimulus checks plus aid to state and local governments. Mitch’s bill did none of that and gave employers protection against lawsuits for making employees work in dangerous conditions for Covid.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage." – Alexander Fraser Tytle… I guess time will tell what is the next stage.

You’re blaming PELOSI for this? Have you actually read, you know, the news?

The Democratic legislators have had HUNDREDS of bills sitting on Mitch McConnell’s desk, which he has blocked. McConnell refused to enact another stimulus and sent the Senate home for vacation instead! This is just lying propaganda, and a shameful effort on someone who is supposed to be a political cartoonist.

Ummmm… Congress passed a bill that included stimulus. It sat on Moscow Mitch’s desk for months. Senate Republicans don’t want to pay for stimulus and believe that $600 a week unemployment aid makes American workers lazy.

You guys lie so easily it makes me wonder if you even recognize the truth any more

‘This must be exposed’: Katie Porter ‘pulls back the curtain’ on Mitch McConnell’s stimulus sabotage

Porter continued, “Everyone at the negotiating table—including Senate Rs—has agreed to a compromise. Except one. Mitch McConnell is refusing to bring it to the floor unless it wipes away all COVID-related lawsuits filed that “allege injury or death” due to corporate negligence.”

“These lawsuits represent the worst of the worst examples of disregard for human life—cases filed on behalf of nursing home patients and grocery store workers who died because the company in charge of keeping them safe prioritized cutting costs over protecting them.”

She concluded, “The same McConnell who said that President Trump is “100% within his rights” to pursue baseless lawsuits alleging election fraud is now refusing to pass urgently-needed relief unless it strips those same rights from the most vulnerable among us. This must be exposed.”

Pelosi, Schumer blast $916B White House coronavirus relief proposalThe Trump-backed plan is said to include pared-down stimulus checks for Americans.

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer late Tuesday rejected a Trump-backed $916 billion coronavirus relief proposal that was offered by Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin.

The new Mnuchin plan landed on Capitol Hill late Tuesday and could boost prospects of an agreement, as it shows that the White House is willing to back a $900 billion plan. But it also complicated efforts given that much of the focus has been on a bipartisan group of lawmakers who have been working furiously to come to an agreement on their own $908 billion proposal

The Mnuchin plan has some distinct differences that have been immediately rejected by Democrats. Unlike the bipartisan proposal, it puts forth a $600 direct payment for individuals and $1,200 for couples, which is half the payment delivered by the March pandemic relief bill. And while the proposal would extend federal unemployment benefits, which are set to expire at the end of the month, for up to eight weeks, it would not provide an additional enhanced weekly federal benefit of $300 that Democrats are demanding and the bipartisan group has endorsed.

First McConnell has to make sure republicans don’t get sued for killing a quarter million Americans with their totally botched covid response. Like Trump said, “I take no responsibility.”

Katie Porter: Mitch McConnell is giving big corporations ‘a license to kill’ Americans

Speaking on MSNBC this Wednesday, Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) blamed Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for putting the “imaginary need” of big corporations ahead of relief for Americans as coronavirus lockdowns continues to ravage the economy and shut down businesses.

According to Porter, Democrats “continue to want to negotiate” a new coronavirus relief package, adding that many Republicans are also willing to compromise, but “this is about Senator McConnell holding out, kind of basically giving a license to kill to big corporations that engage in reckless behavior to endanger workers and employees and Americans.”

“Republicans and Democrats agree there’s a potential to continue those [coronavirus relief programs] if [McConnell] will drop this ridiculous, and I think, corrupt attempt to try to put these imaginary needs of corporations ahead of the needs of the American people.”

So, so simple-minded. McConnel has been holding up the stimulus checks for months single-handedly.
