Annabel or Robert? This strip is pre-Chucky franchise so it’s certainly not that fictional doll. But Annabelle and Robert are real dolls whose stories might have helped contribute to the Chucky creation (well, Annabelle is said to have been a contributing factor to Chucky, don’t know about Robert). And both are purported to be possessed and in recent years have had horror movies made based on them.
Robert has been around since at least 1904 and is supposed to have been manufactured by the renowned Steiff Company of Germany. He was given to a young Robert E. Otto, a future author and painter, as a birthday gift by his grandfather in 1904. Otto, coincidently, died in 1974, the year this strip ran.
Annabelle may be a good bit younger, depending on if the doll was already used when her story begins. She’s a Raggedy Ann doll, so it is possible the doll could be nearly as old as Robert (the first Raggedy Ann dolls came out in 1915). But the story of Annabelle begins in 1970 when the doll was first given to a student nurse.

Where can I apply for that? My current boss always tells me the only thing I can do well is sitting.
