The depiction of the janitor’s stopping in mid-whistle with the note falling from the bottom of the balloon is just wonderful. How does one think up that stuff?

Panel 2 is a nice addition to the “language” of comic strips. Hope it catches on.

Dang I used to be a janitor at a Y near a middle school. Sometimes those kids left behind unopened food. And the food they did open never seemed to make it to their mouths. It became the premise for my theory that the reason adolescents are so hungry is that the food just gets thrown everywhere around their face not in it.

I was curious, but this is not the custodian of the pumpkin episode – custodian has a mustache. Hope mustache custodian was not let go because of his role in the pumpkin episode.
