The Rump convinced his brainwashed followers to vote on election day. He knew that he would appear to be ahead early on in the count. His stupid brainwashed followers were shocked when Biden took the lead later in the count. Those stupid and well armed brainwashed followers are now convinced that there was some massive cheating going on.
I have to limit watching televised sports to fractions of a game. When I watch my team loose I yell stupid things at the TV, I say every gain by the opponent is an uncalled penalty, and every penalty against my team wasn’t a real infraction. In other words, I say we were cheated. Eventually I calm down and feel really stupid. I don’t expect tRump to calm down, but many of his supporters will. We have to let them blow off steam. Either ignore it, or gently mention that fraud on that scale is nearly impossible. Don’t attack them, or they will harden further in their beliefs.
The lack of respect especially for math, science, and reality itself, has turned a large portion of the electorate into a force that wants to end our constitutional quasi-democratic republic and turn it into an authoritarian misogynistic, xenophobic, homophobic, pseudo-theocratic, white supremacist dictatorship with no alliances with other nations other than trade. The very definitions of liberty and freedom have been turned inside out and upside down in their alt-reality nightmare.
Brian – The thing I love most about your comic is that it uses real and actuate history to explain the potential of us repeating it, something I fear we pay very little attention to. With many school systems lacking any kind of civics teaching and even limited history, reachable and easy to quickly digest avenues such as yours become so much more important. Even as we all read and type there are multiple lawsuits and challenges filed or being filed in several States. The allegations are wide ranging and cover a broad variety of actions. Recounts are likely in several States. There is evidence of fraud. Situations where election officials issued incorrect instructions to election workers. Computer glitches that shift or lose votes.
We have cases like PA (and other States) in which wholesale rule changes were made by State officials without legislative approval. That will likely end up before SCOTUS again and seems unlikely to be brushed off again. SCOTUS did not rule on the situation. Instead they punted back to the State level.
Dems have a long history of using the existing mechanisms, including court challenges, to contest election outcomes. Almost at the drop of a hat. You have several prominent Dems who advised Biden to not concede the election under ANY circumstances.
BTW, in law, a sworn affidavit IS EVIDENCE. By itself an affidavit may not be ENOUGH evidence, but in the cases coming up in the next few weeks there will be more than just a few poll watchers and letter sorters. I suggest you folks all buckle up and KEEP AN OPEN MIND.
