I’ve heard meow, miaow, miaou, and meaow from cats ”belonging to” (cats don’t REALLY belong to their putative owners, do they?) family, friends, and acquaintances; however, I’ve never heard maow. I have to infer that Phoebe’s cat is not a domestic variety, but an immigrant cat with a subtle, almost appealing, accent that I can’t quite place.

If she’s like cats I know, she probably got tired of waiting for you to start petting her properly, Phoebe.

My cat is 13, very fat and mostly sleeps

All I have to do to get my cat meowing is make eye contact.

I had a cat follow me once while walking home, and it stopped and walked the same times I did. So I tried to make a cat video. Overt the next couple minutes, I entered my unlock code, went to the camera, figured out to switch to video, and was ready to go. By then, the cat was bored with waiting and walked away.
