Don’t look now, Brutus, but the milk carton is empty, too.

Growing up my sister did that a lot. My brother and I would complain to my mother. She took care of it.

Would you feel better if that person left just one corn flake for you?

Not cereal, but I always have hard-boiled eggs in a ceramic (non-see thru) container in the fridge. My husband will eat the last egg and put the container back in the fridge. So now I go to get one and find the container empty. No amount of scolding, begging or prodding has gotten him to remember to LEAVE IT OUT so I am aware and can make MORE. Geez.

Sounds like something Hurricane Hattie would do. She is good at sneaking into the house uninvited.

Sounds like my sister! Worse she would leave just enough to think that you could get a bowl out of the box. One time I had a mix of Lucky Charms, Life, and Captain Crunch and three empty boxes.

Ok, first off, as far as I’m concerned, Brutus is a champ.

His family is like the guy that went out and murdered Cap’n Crunch, the Lucky Charms guy and the Silly Rabbit? Yeah, he was a cereal killer.

It helps to perpetuate the dream that more will be found in it when wanted. It works with teeth.

I eat the last of the cereal leave the box out on the counter to remind me to buy some more. Later wonder why the box is on the counter….put it back in the cupboard. Next morning……….

I always transfer my cereal to a see thru container and place it on the shelf at eye level so there’s not doubt how much is there.

Kind of like the guys in the coffee pool who when they get that last cup they just leave a little bit in the pot so they don’t have to make the next pot of coffee.

Happens in my house all the time. Better story than cereal – the general house rule is if you use up the last of the gallon of milk, you need to go out to the garage refrigerator and bring in a fresh gallon. So, do you know how many times I’ve gotten the milk gallon out of the fridge, only to find less than an 1/8 of a cup of milk in it?

If only there was some way to tell that the box was empty as you picked it up. So that you wouldn’t have to actually open the top (without looking in), turn it over, and start shaking it to actually know.
