Comparing the attempted assassination of the U.S. Postal Service to the Holocaust is not right, excepting when trying to decode the actions of an authoritarian government. Sometimes they go too far and have to back the f___ up…
On the morning of Saturday February 27th, 1943, the Nazis began to arrest the last remaining Jews in Berlin. They were “privileged Jews”, a category exempt from deportation and other anti-Jewish measures because of being married to German spouses, war industry workers, or officials of the faux Jewish organization officially recognized by the German government for controlling the Jewish population.
That Saturday, trucks packed full of Jews were constantly going up and down the streets of Berlin. Despite the media blackout ordered by Goebbels, it was impossible for the state to arrest so many Jews in Berlin in one day without people noticing.
Spontaneous “Rose Street” protest demonstrations by the non-Jewish wives of the arrested men shocked the Nazis so badly that most of the men were released. Hitler and Goebbels agreed that they would kill them later. Subordinate officers were blamed for exceeding their orders.
Hitler envisioned the ideal German society as a Volksgemeinschaft [people’s community] , a racially unified and united hierarchically organized society in which the interests of individuals would be strictly, and voluntarily, subordinate to those of the Führer. Hundreds of ‘Aryan’ women demonstrating in the streets of Berlin were viewed as a grave threat to the illusion of German unity.
Destroying the U.S. Post Office on the pretense of ‘saving’ it is too much for even the most dedicated American Volksgemeinschaft to swallow. Mr. Ramirez is simply blaming DeJoy for exceeding his orders. They can kill the U.S.P.S. later.
While looking at photos of DeJoy, I had this nagging feeling that his face reminded me of someone else’s appearance. The feeling was as intense as the one I felt when the hunched and scowling Cheney was moved around in a wheelchair at Obama’s 1st inauguration. Cheney was channeling the very essence and being of Old Mr. Potter in “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Then the scales fell away. DeJoy looked very much like Orsen Well’s close-up of Kane’s face right after the bedroom demolition scene in “Citizen Kane” — same bulbous, bald head, same flaccid mouth, same vacant, stunned visage.
Not to worry.. he said the Post Office can handle the election surge.. and we can be sure trump will not hold him to it should he fail. At best, you might… get an “Oops”.
Meds not being delivered. Perishables in packages rotting in mail rooms. Ballots, checks, and other key pieces of mail left on mail room floors. Define “not bad”, Mr. DeJoy.
We have Mr DeJoy’s word that election ballots will not be delayed. And if he’s wrong? What then?
He seems to think that eliminating high speed sorting machines will cut costs, which is a good reason to worry. The thirteenth stroke of the clock is not only in error, but casts doubt on the accuracy of the preceding twelve.
Reminds me of the joke about Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer are discussing which of them is best. Chrome says: “I say, we should decide by which is fastest”. Firefox says “Okay”. Chrome says “I just downloaded a page in .3 seconds”. Firefox says, okay, it took me .5, but my connection’s been flakey lately… okay, I just rendered a complex CSS-laden page in under .1 seconds." Chrome says “I did it just as fast, and got it almost right.” Firefox says “Well, gotta go.” Chrome says “See ya later”. Internet Explorer says “That’s not fair”.
You can request a ballot in most states right now. Call the election board. If you can’t get one now, find out when they will be available, and call on the first day. They will be delivered in October and that’s when you should send them back in. And, put a regular stamp on the envelope you mail back in, that way it has to be treated as regular mail rather than bulk mail and gets where it’s going sooner.
No wonder Ramirez stands as he does, He’s still getting news via the USPS. Change is unwanted, sometimes unnecessary, and alway inevitable. Please continue barking for the part, i need you, yippy dogs to keep me honest.

Not bad Mike.
This is so not bad that I’m suspicious that I missed the intended point of this comic.
