Does the silent majority normally use more than two words at one time. A Hoax. Witch hunt, Sleepy Joe. I think “WE’RE LOSING” has to count as three words unless I cheat.
First night was excellent. My impression of second night is similar to that of the CPB commentator who said he was neither overwhelmed nor underwhelmed; he was just whelmed. All the sentiments were sound and right on point but the overall effect was staging. Too stiff.
The Democrats faced the reality and science of Covid19 and planned ahead to have a virtual convention for 2020.
Compare and contrast the success the Democrats are demonstrating this week with the virtual convention the Republicans manage to cobble together last-minute after being forced to reluctantly abandon their plans for an in-person convention in Florida that they tried to slap together last-minute after being told they couldn’t have an in-person convention in NC.
Truth, Reality, and Science – anathema to the Trumpublicans.
The Republican party has been killed off by the Trumper party. For those people that want nothing to do with Trump their treading water until the Trumper party is killed off. Even when Trump is defeated in November they may still have a long wait to find what’s next for them.
Trump off-script sounds like a guy trying to explain to his wife why he is two days late, blaming his “friends”, trying to persuade her that it is a great thing he did not come home, and finally resorting to UFO abduction and reaction to unapproved medications.
The Republicans vote and work for the rich, working on the notion that giving rich folks money will cause it to “trickle down” and improve the whole society. I don’t think they really believe it themselves, and it has never worked anywhere it has been tried. And, the Democratic party represents the middle class, and votes that way in congress. Granted, they are not doing a terrific job, largely because the Republicans are working really hard to prevent them from doing any good, but they are at least trying. Both parties are going to choose to throw their ample support behind the candidate that at least says they agree with the goals that make up the party platform. There are Democrats who chose to be Democrats simply because that’s how they can get elected. But any person who actually wants to do some good for the middle class is going to choose to be a Democrat.
Consequently, the Democrats lie less and are more honorable than Republicans, because they can be. Not that that’s a very high bar.
Republicans HAVE to lie and cheat in any way they can. When people are given a choice of two statements on issues that actually affect their everyday life, one that describes the Republican position and the other the Democrat’s, the Democratic position is chosen by about 85% of Democrats and Independents. No surprise there. The weird part is that just under half of Republicans also choose Democrat positions, unless they are told which position is supported by each party. Then they fall into line and choose the Republican option- 78% of the time. So, it is entirely reasonable for Republicans to lie a lot. The people running the Republican party are in that half of the Republicans who actually believe in Republican positions. They are roughly 25% of the voters and have no chance of ever winning a national election unless they keep as many people as possible from voting and keep the rest of them confused enough to vote against their best interests.
It’s refreshing to hear people talk intelligently and make a valid point by the end of the sentence. It hasn’t been a feature of what passes for government the past 3.5 years.

Wouldn’t recognize unity or complete sentences if they came up and bit him. Diversity is the same as dividing people into different camps, right?

“We are all in this together.” Instead of “It’s all (fill in the blank)’s fault.”
“We have to listen to the medical experts.” vs. “It is what it is. Live (or die) with it!”

I am sorry to hear about Trump’s brother’s death. But it is nice to see that somebody wants Trump at their funeral.

Many prominent Republicans have renounced the Trump cult and say they will vote for Biden

Well, there was mostly unity except for AOC nominating Sanders. I’ll bet that’s going to come back to bite her eventually.
