just read that cardinals are skittish and prefer to eat where there is covering close by incase they are startled. i would think that would be all birds.
The only time I have ever seen a cardinal was in, of all places, Hawaii! I was attending a convention just outside of Kona. Hawaiian cardinals are pretty chill!

Yeah, can’t say I’ve ever seen a relaxed male cardinal. But, hey, life is hectic for a bird, lots to get done every day to survive.
