The “police power” — the authority to maintain the general public order, is solely a STATE responsibility. The federal government has the right to protect FEDERAL property, such as federal buildings, (or to enforce a Supreme Court order, such as when Eisenhower, Kennedy and LBJ sent in federal troops to enforce Supreme Court desegregation orders) but they have no authority to engage in general law enforcement unless asked to do so by the local authorities.

And there is NO AUTHORITY to attack civilian PEACEFUL protesters, including those who simply talk to them and inquire about their status and authority, violently or, without warrant or explanation, grabbing people in the streets, including peaceful bystanders, and whisking them away. “Officers” who have no badge, no name tag and no identifying insignia are not acting legally and taking people without explanation is KIDNAPPING.

As Joaquin Castro Tweeted, what is to stop an unofficial paramilitary militia from dressing up the same way, pulling up and grabbing protesters off the street?

And I would add, when such paramilitary thugs abuse civilians who ARE behaving peacefully, how can individual officers (who internal memos admitted are inadequately trained) be held responsible? How would the murderer of George Floyd been held responsible if there had been no badge, name tag or insignia? Or maybe that is the point?

I suppose he’s going to try to take the country by force, since bullying the voters is having a predictable, if undesirable effect.

I don’t think that Trump thinks of the United States as “his country”, since he’s never served it.

I liked the part where our airplanes bombed British Airports during the Revolutionary War, Grandpa Trump. Tell me again how your police force captured the bad people you didn’t want thinking bad thoughts like democracy.

Eventually all this crap will, I hope, come home to roost. In the best of all worlds, that will be finalized on November 2nd, invalidating any votes he receives. But I’m not counting on “best of all worlds.”

While trump was sitting on his throne.. in the next stall he heard someone say a wartime president does well come election time.. Those skirmishes in the Middle East are getting old.. and the one against the COVID-19 is going badly… going local in front of the White House was bad PR.. Sorry Portland, it was where the dart landed..

Heir Trump sends in his secret police to stop LEGAL protests. This was designed to escalate any problems by 1000% so he can place all the blame on the “anarchists”. Trump needs to deflect from his total incompetence/indifference in handling the pandemic. America can’t let this guy lose for four more years of this kind of BS. It will get unimaginably worse. Vote dictator Trump and his cult out in November.

He may have some 200%-loyal police somewhere but the military will NOT help him oppose election results. When I was at a government military academy, they told us about an incident in Brazil, where a Brazilian army captain got thrown out of a bar. He came back later with an armored personnel carrier and 11 men to shoot up the bar. The Major teaching the class told us that in the U.S., he might just get an armored personnel carrier but there was no way he would get 11 men to follow him. Loyalty is to the office, not the man. Trump is not going to be a warlord.

We impeached him too early. Can we 25th him? A president that orders attack on citizens, urges Navy to attack other nations, thinks tear gas is fine to do a photo op is clearly not sane— -not to get into his delusion denials of covid.

King Donnie is doing all these anti-American things so he won’t get re-elected. Then he’ll declare there was election fraud. Case of the pot calling the kettle black.

After already being responsible for more American deaths than either the Vietnam or Korean Wars:

    https://trumpdeathclock.com

I think that counts on the high side but the comparison to the war dead numbers is still accurate.

At least he and his administration have already gotten a government contract with one of the vaccine candidates (albeit for a small proportion of what will be needed). It just took him over seven and half months since the first announcement of the pandemic to do something in preparation instead of playing constant catch-up and costing lives that way. Hey, the folks currently in the WH are slow studies… Hopefully, he and his staff realize that most candidate vaccines fail and get contracts with more of them or we could wind up playing catch-up on that score, too.

I’m surprised Li’l Donnie hasn’t released Epstein’s former partner in (hundreds) of crimes, given her a tank or a flamethrower or two, and sicced her on peaceful protestors. Maybe that’s what he meant by wishing her well?

    In 2020, Trump invaded Portland.
