Isn’t “Anarchy Now” the rallying emotion of the extreme right? Using sharpie on the Constitution is what Trump does, with the active support of Barr and McConnell.
I see Gorrell isn’t bothering to do any research — again.
Here’s what Jon Stewart said recently to Trevor Noah regarding Confederate statues:
“What you’ll find is, if you don’t allow regular order to take down the statues that represent the insurrection that tried to destroy this country and preserve the institution of slavery, if you make that impossible to do through pleading, peaceful entreaty and all that, you’re going to end up with a spasm.
“The statues are not from the Confederate era. They’re from the Jim Crow era. They’re from the era when they built them to say, ‘Just so you know, I know they let you go, but I just want to make sure everybody understands, like, we will still subjugate you. And bring fear into your lives.’”
“People say, like, ‘you’re erasing our history.’ By the way, I don’t remember the conservatives during the Iraq War, when the Saddam Hussein statue fell in Baghdad, I don’t recall Republicans at the time going, ‘ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba! Big mistake! You don’t want to erase your history! That’s your history! Leave it be!’
“So the plaque in the statue is not history. It doesn’t say ‘This MF thought he should fight a war to ensure, you know, that he could have slaves on his plantation – that he could still benefit and then we put it up to instill fear in the people that we kept as slaves and their descendants.’
“…So this should have been done in short order by a normal functioning society years ago.”
After Six Weeks Bobs BACK and he’s……….. The Same Racist tool he was before vacation.
By the way The 9th Circuit court said that Trump CAN’T violate Section IX of the us Constitution, the approbations clause to spend money on whatever the hell Trump wants to.
I see Bob’s toon as a very poignant statement of our nation under and within the words, “We the people.” The statement Bob makes here tells of all the words and beliefs that make up the word ‘people’ and the ongoing civil war of words and beliefs that this nation is engaged in. Good job, Bob.
Oh look, after 2 weeks off, Bob Gorrell has a new cartoon. He must be rested and ready to dra.. oh what’s this? A photo of the constitution with some words on it? Not even a drawing of a protester with a can of spray paint?
Oh won’t somebody please think of the statues! it says it right there in the constitution “we the statues of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union….”
I dunno, maybe it’s just me, but murdering someone seems like a much worse crime than spray painting a statue.
Below is a link to why we have Black Lives Matter and other protest groups. It is an well written eye opener for people that support order. We all want order but at what cost?
Bob, “Burn it down” was Steve Bannon’s message/goal. So if the folks on the streets are adopting Bannon’s message why aren’t you celebrating it?
If you go and read history books – instead of burning them- you might find out that the folks who wrote the Constitution were engaged in a “No Justice, No Peace” course of action that became far more energetic than what we see today.
Lee didn’t want a monument…..
The whole of your ’toon today does not support your point.
I have always had a problem with some people treating the Constitution as a timeless absolute sacred religious document. It was never intended by the founding fathers that the constitution become religious dogma.
At least they are willing to keep the Constitution, and use it as a base to build upon – unlike Trump and his cult, who prefer to ignore and tear up the Constitution…
“Are you better off today than you were four years ago?” I don’t recall protests nationwide 4 years ago. I don’t recall foreign nations protesting and marching for equal rights in the U.S. The anarchists were quiet, racists/bigots not so bold, and the pandemic a few years earlier had been dealt with and handled properly. Under 5% unemployment, and a president I was proud of. So, the answer is a resounding “NO!”
To deny that there has been racial injustice in out country since it’s founding is to be either painfully ignorant or a racist. Which one are you Bob? By the way, as far as your attempt to smear, try reading the 1st amendment of the constitution.

The Constitution was written to encourage dissent. You can’t both represent the Constitution and deny what it is meant to do.

Here’s some ideas for your next cartoon based on current events you’ve missed.
1. Trump denies being told Putin was paying the Taliban bounty money on our military
2. Trump forwards video of a supporter in Florida yelling “White Power” without knowing
If you need more, just ask.
