But at some point in the far distant future, it will look very different. And then shortly thereafter, there will be no one to see it. And then after our pale blue dot has been reduced to a burnt-out cinder, it will look very different again. And then, trillions of years in the future, space will include “nothing but the dregs of one last dark star and nothing besides but incredibly thin matter, agitated randomly by the tag ends of heat wearing out, asymptotically, to the absolute zero.” And then it won’t.
The sequence has me confused. Are we seeing a moon-rise soon followed by sunrise? When I’ve watched a sunrise, the day starts getting brighter as the sun clears the horizon, when it’s fully up, it is bright out.
I prefer sunrises because the day is ahead of me, full of promise. With sunsets I think about what I didn’t get done. Sorry, for the downer, I hope you enjoy both.
I’ll amend my comment to add that I believe cures, solutions, remedies for earthly ailments will most likely be discovered by someone like Caulfield, so long as he or she is encouraged in the free expression of his/her talents. All attempts to curb initiative using the common biases related to age, gender, race, religion will simply accelerate our eventual cosmic fate.
Consider this: At this very moment, someplace on Earth, the Sun is just peaking above the horizon. And at some other point on Earth, at the same instant, the Sun has just dipped below the horizon.
It does not matter when this statement is read. It will still be true.
Maybe the universe in in a box of Schrödinger’s. Really, it’s o.k. When the universe is ready to go “lights out!” I believe, along with some others that the User will reboot the game!

Sunsets are better. You don’t need to get up early for them.

Don’t be depressed, Caulfield. You are enjoying it as it is and won’t be around when the major changes occur. Take the moment as given.

The Ancients from the Americas, the Africans, the Europeans, the Asians. All worshiped the sunrise. Sunset? Mox nix. Who cared?

I love the artwork, except for it showing them staring intently at the sun the whole time. Not a good idea.

my favorite true/false question—The sun always rises everyday. (false, of course, not if you are really far north or south)

It’s so inspirational to see a little kid and the school janitor hanging out alone Before sunrise!

yes it’s nice to look at, but the other statements are garbage better to learn celestial mechanics than this homespun philosophy crud

they both have their own beauty. i would rather see the sunrise because there is a better chance i will get to see another sunset, etc

If God had meant for me to see the sunrise it would happen a LOT later.
