Let’s just call it a feeling. A really, really bad feeling.

I don’t know how she can not call him pretentious.

Although after this, she may not call him at all.

I knew two people who had super-high IQs. Both of them were bosses of mine.

I couldn’t stand the first boss because he had no tolerance for us “little people” who could not see the solutions to problems as quickly has he could, But at least he was well-intentioned. I was the 6th of 5 managers under him to quit.

The second did not see his reflection in a mirror when he walked by. He was a narcissist and a pathological liar who dictated software design rather than let the developers do their job (and if they did, he overrode them). He enjoyed setting people against one another because if they look bad, he looked good by comparison. He was good at taking all the credit for other people’s successes and no responsibility for his failures. He fancied himself to be a good Christian yet was a wannabe Mafia Don who prided himself on being able to be mean to people during the day and sleep well at night.

On is desk was the book, “What Would Machiavelli Do?”

I didn’t play his game and was not one of his “yes-men.” Needless to say, I was fired. I can’t blame him as I tried to get him fired. I think he actually had some respect for me for that. It is what he would have done if our places were reversed.

And NO he is not an elected official, to the best of my knowledge. Do not confuse him with someone else. This ex-boss had a good command of the English language, was a great B.S. artist and his lies were plausible. He even had me fooled for a little while.

P.S. the first company was successful and got bought out by a nationally-known name brand. The second company went bankrupt about 9 months after I left.
