From Gaia’s point of view, there’s nothing special about the region we call the USA. The only reason we’ve been “lucky” so much is because we’ve done the work, prepared ourselves for trouble, and practiced how to cope. And pitched in to help whenever needed. This administration has been so intent on tearing down what has made us great that they totally missed the potential for trouble. It’s really sad that the horrific mistakes of a few have caused the many so much pain. And it ain’t over yet.
Tonight Rachel Maddow lamented how bad FOX and right wing news have gotten to the point where they don’t even report the same news as the other networks and radio shows…. Specifically. she described FOX praising Sweden for it’s biz as usual approach to COVID-19, while failing to report that Sweden has by far the worst increased case curve of all the Scandinavian countries…. way to go FOX & Sweden!
(FOX, this time, also doesn’t mention Sweden’s socialist programs at all!)
I’m glad CNN cuts Trump’ rambling preamble at the briefings. It’s just a rerun of ‘his accomplishments’. And if that is missed you can be sure his ‘sweety’ from OAN will a way to bring them up during the question period. I noticed that every question she asks is ‘a good question’.
as bkincaid pointed out, Uncle Sam is exactly the same in all 3 panels. not even the eyelids change. And why is he angry? shouldn’t he have a worried look on his face? that would be too much work.
Nice try attempting to get people to forget that the Obama team tried to prepare Trump for this very type of pandemic during the transition and left him a playbook with what to do. He was warned in January about the Coronavirus and did nothing.
Bob, this comes across to me as you figuring out the logic of “It can’t happen here” – happens here. Would this part of you be able to push people away from right wing propaganda or is that too much to ask?
Even Bush warned of the possibility of a Pandemic and created a response plan. Obama took it further and created a task force… Then 45 comes in… ignores the warnings, disregards the response plan and dismantles the task force… all while shouting nobody could have known. And this is on top of it being in the news coming out of China for months before it exploded here.
This is Gorrell’s Style. Republican Created problems no matter how large is responded with “We are all in this together” Problems that are the fault of Both parties Gorrell labels the fault of the Democrats and Democratic Problems are wet with " OH MY GOD ….. SOCIALISM…….THE SKY IS FALLING….. THE WORLD IS ENDING…….
Then it get pointed out that the Republicans helped cause that a problem well and it’s back to “cant we all just get along”
So why is disbelieving American intelligence agencies – and believing intelligence instead from long-time foes, as well as defunding and shutting down watchdog and response teams, a “good” governmental platform?

All those events were foretold. The Rump is just the latest and worst to ignore the warnings.

Is there a reason why Gorrell still promotes this fallacy when numerous NGO and government studies concluded that a pandemic was a real threat?

That’s what happens when you choose ignorance as a way of life. Thanks, Republicans.

When the “leader” talks so much (mostly lies) that he can’t hear what anyone else is saying (unless it is praise of him) what do you expect?
